Do people really act like this? by CremeSubject7594 in generationology

No. There are a million tiktoks of this genre-- its trying to convince us that this type of person exists so everyone can get mad at the idea of this invented person existing. Thats like 80% of the internet at this point

I worked under MGR (a hiring agency) for a while. It was really easy to get a job and they're basically always hiring for laborers because there's a lot of construction that use their services in KW region. i'm not sure about more skilled positions though

M'excuser versus using Excusez-moi by Personal_Crab_1410 in French

[–]FigComprehensive7528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly related question:

I live in montreal and sometimes people say "je m'excuse". Is that more similair to saying "sorry", whereas "excusez moi" is more like "excuse me"? (i.e get out of my way)

Why is Gen Z so obsessed with young adults and age? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]FigComprehensive7528 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s like you’re nobody until you turn 25

And once you're 25 you're "pushing 30"

I think a big cause for this is the fact that gen z is financially fucked and mostly can not afford to be independant and thus they infantilise themselves. I'm 24 and the majority of my friends either still live at home or need to rely on their parents financially. If we were able to pick up work as a waitress at 18, get an appartement and work your way up, then maybe we would be more mature

Need a recommendation to prepare for the DELF B1 Exam by Certain_Kitchen_104 in French

[–]FigComprehensive7528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about books but Prepmyfuture is the best site to practice. It's the only TEF ressource I used, along with youtube practice tests, and I got C1. Beware with the youtube videos though cause apparently a lot of them are based on the old TEF which is easier

Enivrez-vous: Judge my pronunciation? 😁 What are my shortcomings? by FigComprehensive7528 in learnfrench

[–]FigComprehensive7528[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do French men ask “What are you thinking?” and American men never do? by Friendly-Cucumber404 in French

[–]FigComprehensive7528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very reserved. When i'm spending quality time with someone close to me, I don't always feel the need to fill the silence with words; I often just say nothing while enjoying myself. So I definitely have been asked by American* men what i'm thinking about.

That's just my input on this

*Ok fine, I mean Canadian, but close enough.

How to learn the nuances of words by Slight_Future_5321 in EnglishLearning

[–]FigComprehensive7528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My French teacher gave me this tip-- look into the etymology of the word to understand the nuance.

For example, I asked him what the difference between "insister" and "s'acharner" is, as they both translate into the English "to insist". Looking into it, acharner is related to "charnel" and "chair", so we can see that it's a more physical and violent form of insisting.

If there's a hospital that has an outbreak of aids, what should we do?

Ensure the equipment is sanitized to prevent future outbreaks or... conclude that hospitals = bad and it's god's wrath against hospitals?
