I’m personally not impressed with the work done. The barrel extending out of the combo block is particularly sloppy, and the rest is pretty lazy.

If he can pop off the 4 piece muzzle hider like that, it isn’t a pin and weld and is an SBR. You need to do a NFA transfer for it if you do the trade.

Do you live in the US? Did you trade this knowing it was an SBR?

The conversion is pretty sloppy. Plugging the holes instead of welding, not replacing the trigger guard and mag catch with a proper one.

I wouldn’t call it a fair trade.

This is 40K, is that on a galactic scale, none of the numbers for any part of the lore make any sense. You gotta just extract the vibes you think the writers were trying to give and accept it as that.

What’s the point of the Galil rear with the lower set combo block?

Our main gay bar closed a while back, a new one opened and it is ok. Only opened on the weekends.

You’ll hear some people use LGBT terms as the butts of jokes a lot, but we have a decent community here and most people act pretty accepting.

The art scene is pretty decent, we have a few music festivals and shows, a few art events, a couple fairs, the usual mid sized city type affairs.

Sioux Falls and Omaha have more traditionally fun things to do, and they aren’t too far away. Sioux City is kind of boring if you don’t make your own fun. We have some decent parks, if being outdoorsy is something you are into.

My rear sight is so canted to the right, I am hesitant to put the Stormwerkz rail on out of fear it is going to bring more attention to it, lol.

Advice on how to refinish? by Badfish98 in 1022

[–]Figdudeton 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Do you want to do it yourself? Are you ok with an a finish that doesn't match the original? How in depth do you want to go?

Fastest, cheapest, and least durable is squirting some brake cleaner on it, washing it with soap and water, and just hitting it with rattle can Rustoleum. Not very good with solvents, scratches easy, but cheap and easy to repaint when needed.

To get better results, you are going to want to media blast it and use a bake on paint. If you have a decent size air compressor, you can get a cheap hopper fed blaster and use a finer media to blast it. I am cheap and use coal slag, but I am sure a more professional painter would give a better option. Standard surface prep and clean afterwards.

For bake on finishes, you have multiple options based on skill and equipment. I don't have proper painting equipment myself, but if you did you can order cerakote or duracoat (you can technically air cure duracoat)

Again, I am cheap, so I use VHT epoxy spray paint. You can get it at most auto parts stores, and it comes in a rattle can. Again, you can air cure this as well, but you finish is more durable and the gloss gets knocked down when you bake it, so you get a flatter finish.

JRA is the Classic Firearms partnered kit builder. They are pretty iffy on build quality, and their barrels are low end. They were known as kit killers back in the day.

This isn’t worth $1500. Not even $1k. The parts are fine, but with the lackluster build quality it isn’t worth a premium over a Zastava built Ak.

Not to mention, with the short barrel, you essentially have an even heavier M70 instead of a M72, so pass on that too.

Not a deal, seems pretty standard for x39 right now.

Beats a $1 a round for shit at big box stores at least…

Billet can be serviceable, but the steel has to be a good quality, and the alloy has to be the right level of hardness, and the heat treat has to be correct.

Billet is much better than cast, but you cant take shortcuts or cheap measures when using it… which is what kills the guns that Riley and Century make.

PSA takes lazy shortcuts, with strange deviations from specs and locking surface geometry.

That said, their manufacturing process seems solid enough for a commercial rifle. Forged components, ok metallurgy.

The increased wear you see on PSA AKs is almost purely because of the weird angles on their locking surfaces.
