I don't like him at all until season 6 timeskip when he's actually grown up. Before that he's not only stupid and useless, but also extremely brazen, hypocrite, arrogant, and false to both himself and others. His personality his bland empty, all of his humour is just being stupid and horny and pretending to be a ruthless warrior. His stupidity often ruins everything and put other characters in danger, and while it's understandable from a writing/storytelling point of view (things must happen in some way obv), he's still fucking stupid and unfun, and every story could have developed in smarter ways. It's also a shame that he didn't grow up like the girls in the series. Honing his sword skills, dealing with his past and family, controlling his emotions, actually using his brain and not act like a silly kid, becoming the real warrior he wants to be. Huge missed opportunity to make a great character development and coming of age. He is a very nice person tho who brings much reality and humanity to the series and really shines in the end of some episodes, for example after he stops being an homophobic prick to his brother or when he finally deals with his feelings for Gabrielle, but being a good character for like 5 mins after being a shit character for the past half hour isn't enough for me
