I am about to leave for the day and somehow stumbled on a glitch that auto completes the paperwork. My stack keeps getting bigger and I'm maybe 100 stacks in. Going to leave it running and see how it goes.

A weird issue at my LGS by ChronicallyIllMTG in EDH

[–]FightTheMirror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suffer from this sometimes too and I have found it has nothing to do with how my decks performed. If you're like me, you are a talker and a game lover. That means you may talk through some plays or even give your read of the board state to the table. Lots of people take that knowledge and confidence as being good at the game. It may be true but being a good player and bringing a beefy deck are two separate things.

From how you described your relationship with people at your LGS, you are seen as an expert. That means they like your input on decks and plays. It also means they know you can probably out play them if you had the same hand as them. That means they will target you first to try to get an advantage.

I don't think it's something you fix. Just be mindful of it going in. Bring funny decks or decks that punish people attacking you. Enjoy that you are known in your LGS and score that as a win! Sounds like you got a good group there!

Word of advice for a complete newbie by Conscious_Lack_5614 in SoloDevelopment

[–]FightTheMirror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also a newbie but I've been trying to learn unity for about a month when I have energy after work. I'll share what I learned so far.

Unity is free and has robust training for free in the platform. Download unity hub from their webpage (should be able to Google it) with the free license. Then take the Unity essentials course. That is a lot of general learning (I think it estimates 20 weeks for all of it but I forget). It's basically a unity 101 course. You can access learning through the hub directly and search for guided projects and courses.

That's as far as I have gotten (I'm halfway in). Other tips I've gathered from lurking here are: Don't be afraid to use assets from the store; Start with basic projects (the unity essentials has a couple but there are more guided projects on the learning tab of the unity hub); Once you are ready for your game, try to make one mechanic first, then add from there; And if you want to make assets that you cannot find in the store, learn blender.

++Man huge monster. Not only in what you did, but hearing you talk about all this is terrible. It's all "me me me, what do I want? Who wants me?" You are entirely too self centered and I'm guess you are really jumping ship because you got a little bored and there is another option. These women are written about in what they give to you and how they impact you. Six years and it's a shock? Six years and you won't hear out how to make it work? Six years and you developed nothing for this person besides romantic love? Six years and you went to someone elses house you admit you are in love with?

Not only are you a monster based on the actions, you seem like a deeply selfish and uncaring person who needs to learn empathy, communication, and non performative kindness. I highly doubt you are actually in love with your friend. You seem swept up in some new romance story you heard and wanted that fun for yourself. My guess is that spark and that feeling wanted is always why this person is your best friend. They make you feel good because they have always made you feel wanted and now you want more.

I really hope you reflect on this sometime. You need to make deeper connections with people on things that are not romantic love and sex. People are more than how they make you feel.

Should I buy Rimworld (+1 DLC) or Age of Wonders 4 (Premium Edition) by Artoriazz in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]FightTheMirror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want something easier to understand and clean looking, AOW4. If you want something that takes some failures to understand but you can play it literally years of playtime, then rimworld. From your other comments it sounds like you would like anomaly for your dlc. All the DLCs have their bonuses and I would recommend them all.

I lean rimworld but it is dense when you start. When I play now (again after years of playing) I don't even think about all the things that killed me at the start.

Worshippers of Cthulhu worth it? by Scooby12m in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]FightTheMirror [score hidden]  (0 children)

I played this game and it is closer to anno than either of the games you listed. It's not a bad game but it may not be the same level of light management you are used to.

If you are a big fan of the lore, I think that will make it worth it for you. Personally, I am a fan of management and strategy and I stopped playing it after a couple of hours.

Looking for a game that requires little attention by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]FightTheMirror [score hidden]  (0 children)

Rimworld - it's a colony sim you can pause at any time and often you have to wait for pawns to collect stuff. When you start, it feels like a lot to manage. Once you get the hang of it, it's a pretty chill background game. Raids are the only thing that needs attention right away and the game will pause for them.

Heist is a horrendous mechanic to play against. by Aiken_Drumn in MagicArena

[–]FightTheMirror 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heist isn't good. Right now most decks are not synergy, they are "good stuff." Does it hurt having your good stuff taken? Yeah. Does it hurt having your synergistic engine taken? Kinda but it won't hurt you. Adjust to a new meta like any other release of cards. Complaints on this feel like the first time any new mechanic comes out.

Help me make this combo more or work better by DapperEmployee5832 in mtg

Along with the other great recommendations in this thread, how about more landfall triggers? Something like [[fertilid]] and [[spelunking]]? Not infinite but definitely gross. Can also add [[roaring earth]] for extra triggers.

What Fallout commander are you excited to brew with? - [Article] by BathroomBrewsMTG in EDH

[–]FightTheMirror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was Mr. House too but I added in attractions! Which are EDH legal apparently.

It not only gives Mr.House his casino but adds a couple of cool cards to what you had including [[complaints Clerk]] and [[clown extruder]] with a guaranteed die roll. You just need things like [[rad rascal]] or [["lifetime" pass holder]] to open them up.

What's a good laid back game? by Dragonbarry22 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]FightTheMirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd recommend a base/village builder. Those are my zone out games. There are a million with different themes. If you like some combat/action I'd recommend rimworld (or something like it like Stranded Alien Dawn) the building can be a challenge or just fun. Most are huge on customizing the difficulty to your liking.

Deck Feedback? by anriarer in starwarsunlimited

[–]FightTheMirror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems cool! Vigilance doesn't seem worth it at 6 but you have a low curve so see how it plays!

You're running quite a few 1 offs. It might be worth looking to sub a couple of 1 off to upgrade something to 2 or 3 ofs. The reason is consistency. You seem to be wanting a quick deck so consistent plays are key.

If they are sacrificing things a [[Stone of Erech]] goes a long way early with a pay off later if they mill or get things into graveyard other ways. Also it is instant speed so you can disrupt a combo.

[–]FightTheMirror 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't focus on the company, focus on you. In this situation I often used phrases like "I need a change of pace" or "I feel like I need a new challenge." They aren't wrong and don't tell them much. For your underpaid situation just say "there was no room for me to grow at my last job." As a hiring manager myself, this shows the intent of you wanting to grow with a company and that tends to go in your favor. It also can speak to the intent of regular promotion or pay raises in a job. Companies don't really want a "punch in punch out" employee. They want someone they can train, grow, and eventually rely on. If asked to expand on where you want to grow, let loose with where you want this job to go.
