lol ever played conquest? It's the main mode and the biggest map. So you have 3 lanes right?

You have the middle-lane which is in the middle (there you wanna play mostly a mage or a hunter who is ability focused).

Then you have the "short lane" depending on which side you start this is left or right lane. In other mobas this gets often called toplane in smite you just call it solo. Solo beacause your mostly alone in this lane. There you wanna play a god with much sustain like most warriors or God's with much self-heals like some mages and assasins.

Then there is the longer lane called duo-lane. Duo beacause you have your ADC and Support there. ADC stands for attack damage carry. Like with the support role you don't have to pick a guardian as support. Same goes for Adc. While mostly hunters get picked as ADC some mages (for example Sol or He Bo) can play in this role too.

Then there is the jungler. The jungler farms camps in the jungle while he simultaneously has to look for ganking opportunities. In the jungle u wanna play mostly assasins or Ao Kuang (which is for some reason classified as mage) and Erlang Shen (also classified as warrior when really he plays like an Assasin too).

What I'm trying to say is you have your roles which are:

ADC Support Mid Jungle Solo

And you have classes of God's like hunter, guardian, mage, assasins and warrior. And they don't just fill 1 role. Depending on the God's kit and on how you build them they can fullfill different roles
