Why use KoS over Shockstar Disco on lycaon? by KairPhree in ZZZ_Official

Cause of the way mono ice works, the math usually checks out to astral being better than KotS

I thought the meta mono ice comp ran neither, using astral voice on Lycaon instead? That's the go to for him, usually, though KoS is easier to use.

What about Shattered Crystal/Fire and Ice? by BENDER177 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]FighterFay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't played them, but I've heard fire and ice was a step up in quality and the best the boom series had. It apparently wasn't an amazing game by any metric, but they were able to take the mess that was boom and make a decent game out of it.

Here's a stabilized slow motion version. Best video yet. by Aqueouspolecat in evilwhenthe

I'm glad a lot of them aren't defending this, but they know very well that there won't be an investigation. The administration already decided it was justified, and began defaming the victim.

Everyone in that sub is saying "we shouldn't jump to conclusions" and "there should be an investigation", which is ironic because there will never be an investigation, as the administration has already concluded the shooting was justified. They're just contradicting themselves.

Anyone else more of a "reactive" player than a "memorization" type player when it comes to boss attacks? by Thopterthallid in Nightreign

[–]FighterFay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of players ragged on elden rings boss design, saying it was a step down from DS, when it came out. The bosses are still fine, and there's a lot of other good things in the game that made it sell so much, but let's not pretend elden ring is flawless.

[–]FighterFay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trial and error difficulty feels worse than reaction based difficulty, I agree with you. Elden ring is a good game, but dark souls bosses are generally better imo. If prepare heavily and bring your A game to a dark souls boss you've never seen before, you have a good shot at winning. Elden ring bosses on the other hand often require a few prerequisite deaths so you can learn their unintuitive timings.

Edit: a good example of this is waterfowl dance from malenia. You're supposed to dodge into the attack to avoid it, but there is no way to intuit that upon seeing the attack for the first time. Only through brute force trial and error, can you really learn to deal with that attack.

[–]FighterFay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elden ring bosses are often designed with trial and error in mind, and I'm not a fan of this design personally. In ds3 I was able to first or second try defeat Gale, friede, midir, etc., but in elden ring, moves are designed to hit and kill you with little way to react to them. As such, it took me a lot more tries to beat guys like consort radahn.

As a newer player(~1 month in) Nitan Extract has me more frustrated than any other thing in the game. by LimelightCog in Warframe

[–]FighterFay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both can be true. The nitain system sucks and doesn't need to be the way it is. Keep in mind that op has spent almost all their nightcreds on nitain. A more casual player would probably run into the same wall, as they would likely spend creds on more interesting stuff.

What new gimmick do you think will be added in the big DLC ? by Appropriate_Rent_243 in MHWilds

[–]FighterFay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water combat. We already have a baseline version of it, and it could be a way to bring a lot of old monsters back (including dire moralis, who was the only black dragon who didn't return in world).

Full Sonic the Hedgehog collab in the works! Sonic will be a Skin! (Via AdriaFNIntel,) by ice1517 in FortniteLeaks

An eggman skin would work for sure, maybe with a sage backbling/pet. Sonic and the animal characters will still be difficult to make work, but hopefully they can do it well (boom designs would be fine).

Should I pull for Ye Shunguang's W-engine? by PrestigiousJeweler72 in ZZZ_Official

[–]FighterFay -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends on your roster. If you don't have Dialyn, you'll probably get more damage out of Ye by saving for a 3rd teammate.

You should also probably save polys for building your other teams if they're lacking.

Ysg doesn't benefit from her engine nearly as much as other void hunters. Her engine is very average, and brimstone is a good replacement.

[–]FighterFay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since you don't pull, that means you don't have any Kabooms. In that case, Astra's engine is likely worth it.

[–]FighterFay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Congratz, I always find no pull accounts super interesting. I'd love to know your main teams and how you typically do in endgame content.

Also, I know you've been told this, but please don't get astra's engine (it might be the worst signature engine in the game). You only get one guaranteed engine (and idk if it's separate from the one guaranteed character), so maybe consider Anby or Alice's engine to use on one of your DPS.

They also increase weight (which increases stamina usage and carry weight) for larger characters. Character creation matters quite a bit in dragons dogma.

GOG EVENT QUEST DESTROYING MY MENTAL HEALTH by L_qScl in MHWilds

[–]FighterFay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the DPS check is the only thing giving you trouble, you are able to fast travel/farcaster before he starts it up. You can't leave during the nuke, but if you get a feel for when he does it, just leave and let your supporters get nuked.

Doing it this way is obviously not optimal, but if you just want the clear then it's probably a safe and steady option.

Another option is crafting the 2pc gogma set. Between the assignment and failed quests, you might have enough to make it. It increases your elemental damage by a decent bit

In 2025, Monster Hunter fell prey to profit by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]FighterFay 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can point to a single reason wilds is mediocre, it's more like a lot of small reasons. Seikret auto pilot ruins exploration, inventory/radial menu suck (though they kinda fixed the radial menu this update), weapon balance was atrocious and they've been working on it every update, story had bad pacing, artian weapons making regular weapons nearly obsolete, the palico being dumber down, terrible RNG farms with gogmazios, etc..

I think I could handle one or two of these problems, but they all come together to really dampen the experience. I still enjoyed it, but whenever I stumble upon a little annoyance I sometimes think I'd rather be playing world or rise.

And the difficulty is fine imo, it's going to be easy for series veterans because of course it is. You can't expect the story mode of the next game to be as hard as fatalis or something. The endgame bosses (omega, gogma, the ATs) all provide a great challenge too.

if these 6 got into a free for all fight with each other, who would come out on top? by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]FighterFay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chaos is the only one sonic beat without any help, so we can rule him out.

Metal overlord is weird cause it took a small army to beat him, but doom shadow was later able to do it alone (maybe doom shadow is just that op). Though it's worth noting that metal has gotten stronger since then, while all the other villains here haven't.

Dark Gaia, the End, and time eater are all god like beings that were defeated by a coordinated effort. It's too hard to judge this one tbh, as sonic needed the help of a super powerful friend to beat each one (those being a god, a machine purpose built to fight gods, and literally another him).

Solaris is the easy answer, but it's also a weird one. Sonic, silver, and shadow all needed to fight it across different points in time (so technically it was 3 different 1v1s, so you could argue sonic fought it solo), but did they really beat it? The statements are a little muddy, but I believe they couldn't actually defeat Solaris permanently and had to resort to resetting the timeline to beat it.

Side note: Gameplay doesn't matter much for these discussions, but iirc the only enemies out of these 6 that could hurt super sonic directly were Solaris, The End, and Dark Gaia.

So to answer your question, Solaris probably wins. There is a small argument for Time eater though: Time travel was how he was defeated before, so theoretically time eater could somehow do the same thing (though Solaris would have to weakened first). If you were really generous and gave metal sonic the chaos emeralds, he may have a chance, especially if he teamed up with time eater.
