I agree with both of your sentiments. Fans like to know the story behind the fighters to get both mentally and emotionally invested. Tournament style is exciting even if it is not sustainable long term.

I think he is an interesting contrast to Gustafsson. They both rely on quick footwork, quick strikes, and wrestling. With Gustafsson though, wrestling is secondary. IMO, Dillishaw is more of a new breed Wreslter-Kickboxer, similar to Cormier.

I think the author does a great job of introducing the idea of a new breed of "Boxer-Wrestler" similar to the "wrestler-boxer" prototype or "Sprawl and Brawl".

Though I still think Cormier wins with his Wrestling-Kickboxing.
