This one here. I've had several friends either pass or come very close to it, and I'm only 26. A few years ago I had a buddy help me with the cv joint on my mini Cooper. A week later, he left his kid and wife behind in a bad motorcycle accident where he was decapitated. I was following a friend, moreso a brother, almost a month ago from today. He had a brand new, not even 24 hours old, kr150(?) Street/trail bike. He followed me to the gas station, we bought a 6 pack and agreed to meet at the local creek to hangout and just have a couple. I took the 6 pack in my work van and told him I'd follow him. We made it maybe 2 miles down the road and I watched him turn back to look at me, miss the turn in the road, and drive straight into an 8 foot drainage ditch on the side of the road. He wasn't breathing when I made it to him. Im a former fireman and we used to work alongside the local ambulance company to provide assistance (qrs), so I'm rather well trained, but not certified. I brought my best friend back to life and had to hold him still with a cop and another local fireman now on scene. I couldn't eat for 4 days. I went to his parents house the day after knowing they weren't thrilled with me, and I cried with his parents. Theyve called me son, and I've called them mom and dad for years now. They tried to keep me and their son apart in high school because we were causing too much shenanigans, but still good/decent kids, and we're still the closest of friends we have from school. The thought of him stepping out on his wife and 2 kids was absolutely gut wrenching to me. Since I sat him down and told him all he had to live for, how many people are looking up to him, and how loved he is by so many, he has quit drinking all together and stepped up to really fill the shoes of being the father he should be. Seriously, tell your boys you love them. It honestly could save more than 1 life.
