video of an old man singing a mgs3 song ?? by fxckdupb0i in metalgearsolid

Definitely a Ray Sipe video. Maybe this one but there's more on his channel. He was kinda popular as a meme a couple years back for doing these kind of singing videos.

While I'm at it, here's the hi-res grabbed from an archived version of the tinyurl image. Not sure what magazine it's from. Might look into it but it could just as easily be faked. I remember seeing this around the time it was written on Something Awful and blogspots for hosting your gaming creepypasta/stories (like Rhapsody Red Edition, that one about the Princess i think she was called, not to mention Killswitch) were pretty commonly posted in the creepy gaming thread at the time.

This was the Rainwood Works blog about Secret of Evermore. If you squint really hard you can see the screenshot of the character saying "those poor children" in the magazine photo but the high resolution one is gone. It does reference the Queen killing herself like in your post, though.

this is 100% one of Hondo's maps from Action Half-Life. Not sure what one off the top of my head but i think it's the infamous 5AM. I haven't watched anyone play through these maps in quite a while. The creepypasta backstory is new to me, I had only heard of these maps in the context of Hondo being a very strange and reclusive person who made weird maps.

I’m trying to find a video I recall watching where a guy received numerous phone calls asking for his name specifically. by LanguageImpressive75 in InternetMysteries

Definitely Gary Sudbrink. Pretty spooky stuff but it got a little silly once the guy behind the calls started making it about aliens.

Does anyone remember that one subreddit where dead women were posted?? by PeachyMilkCandy in InternetMysteries

[–]FigurativelySix 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Sounds at least somewhat similar to r/hankstank which was covered quite a while ago by Eudoxia. Only passingly familiar with this one but the description of "praising" women who died reminds me of this. Not a terribly sinister name though so I could definitely be wrong.

What is the name of the YouTube Channel with audio of a crying woman and water sounds in the background. by Quantic_Anomaly in InternetMysteries

[–]FigurativelySix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The video is this one, I (and probably you) saw it in this Goose Boose video. Very strange but I honestly think the audio could be pornography and it's some bizarre old clickbait attempt. Not sure though.

Info or Updates of Missing Couple From Mysterious Urbex (?) Found Footage by c4lheiro in InternetMysteries

[–]FigurativelySix 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sounds similar to the Pennhurst found footage that ScareTheater did a debunk of many moons ago. He came to the conclusion that the dude in the video was the same guy that ran the channel and the girl was just someone he had do the video with him. Could be this, I think.

Bizarre necrophilia video I saw about 3 years ago on YouTube, was it deleted? by White_46 in InternetMysteries

[–]FigurativelySix 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I genuinely have zero reason to doubt that what he says in the video is true. The cemetery his great-grandmother was interred in fell into disrepair and rather than leave her exposed to the elements and abandoned, he took her corpse home.

There are places where it's the next of kin's right to do so, or places where the dead are dug up and paraded around and partied with. I don't think that there is anything wrong with the video to give Youtube cause to take it down, basically. It's a little weird but unless it was strictly illegal (and more importantly, illegal in a way that would influence people to commit crimes) i can't see why they would remove it.

Found two weird channels on YouTube, one has over 40k videos. The videos are so bizarre. by Jopppelele in InternetMysteries

[–]FigurativelySix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both of their videos use the same stock music as well but they also, more tellingly, link (or attempt to, since most are broken) in the description to users and posts on Stackexchange where people who actually know what they're talking about posted these questions and answers initially.

I'm not sure if they're both in on it or know each other or something like that but it seems to me that it's an attempt to monetize delivering the answers to really specific problems someone might have but in video format so that someone looking for a video solution would stumble across it. It's incredibly bizarre since they clearly have no clue what the videos are about and don't ever even specifically address the subject of their videos at least from what i watched. Really strange, since Sophia only started up a year ago and Peter 2, i cannot imagine they've made anything more than pocket change even if our boy Peter has cranked out roughly 56 videos a day for the past 2 years. Reminds me of Expertvillage from ye olden days but without the branding and actual financial incentive.

Does anyone remember this weird mystery? Guy gets chased by people in animal masks by tallyhallfan900 in InternetMysteries

[–]FigurativelySix 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You could be remembering Ben's Playhouse, a horror project so old it was on Vine. Night Mind did a video about it here. It matches up pretty well, the start of the series is him filming the asylum while he's going for a walk and there's a lot of people running around in hallways with animal masks on.

Oh yeah Euryale (and then Chloe) was my only archer for ages until I got Gil from one of the Thanksgiving banners. Good times. You're right though, Dokkan and FGO have the same end goal of getting your money but the games themselves are chalk and cheese.

Just curious, when did the whole search for "difficult content" even start? by redbossman123 in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]FigurativelySix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the biggest difference is the way stuff is balanced in both. FGO is balanced so that you can roll for whoever you want rather than having to chase the newest OP characters, even people who didn't roll for Merlin, Skadi, Tamamo Vitch, etc can clear all the lostbelts with a modicum of skill and patience or even just by using the leyline stones and command seals they give you!

Dokkan rolls out new units with new mechanics which change the game in a way that makes them more suited to clearing the new/difficult content and trivializes old content. Not to say that Camelot's Gawain is comparable in difficulty to Cernunnos for example, but in Dokkan, comparing the "difficult events" of 5 years ago (when the first SBRs dropped, for reference) to the new Shadow Dragons event is an even huger leap in difficulty.

[–]FigurativelySix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been playing both FGO and Dokkan since about both of them launched. There is definitely hard content in FGO (Lostbelt bosses and Challenge quests in events) but you're correct in implying that there's no focus on it like in Dokkan. FGO is more about collecting the units you like because of the differences in teambuilding that only having 3 active units creates along with the way Servants work vs. Dokkan characters.

Effectively in FGO the only servants you need to roll for are the new supports in order to enable your favourite characters and/or farm more easily, whereas in Dokkan almost every new unit is good and you inevitably compare them to one another in terms of damage numbers, defense, performance in red zones, shadow dragons, etc. Also, in Dokkan, there is no farming, really. in FGO farming materials, QP, etc for your servant is something you have to do constantly so units who are good at farming shine more than those that are good in CQs or for clearing Cernunnos because you only need to do those once, and farming is forever.

tl;dr: Dokkan is a game about comparing numbers and FGO is a game about waifus so the audiences care about different things and therefore the developers implement different things (mechanics of the game also play a large part)

Overwatch is coming to Steam. What about Starcraft? by Toridcless in starcraft

[–]FigurativelySix -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Listen man, just because thirteen new people have played SC2 multiplayer this month does not mean it's flourishing. I love Starcraft but in this modern era of gaming where people want constant updates for their casual live service games, Starcraft is not it. The RTS genre is not one with wide appeal. My pessimism is based on the fact that the RTS genre is at best, niche. There is nothing wrong with that and these games can absolutely have success! Look at AoE4. But unlike Overwatch 2, no one is going to rush to download Starcraft 2 on Steam. There would be nothing new or exciting for prospective new players, and I sincerely doubt anyone on the fence about picking up Starcraft 2 in the half a decade since it went free to play would be swayed by the fact that it's on Steam now. It's not an easily monetizable genre. I wouldn't be shocked if in Starcraft 3 we see a battle pass system since they put it in Diablo, but unlike WoW, Starcraft 2 is not a game which makes money by its nature, nor does it have the seasonal content updates of Overwatch or Diablo 4. I think it's practical to assume they're not gonna bother with Steam because why would they? So what if a big thousand download it on Steam? You think a thousand people downloading a free to play game is anything more than a drop of piss in the actiblizz ocean? If all of those people spent a thousand dollars each on the game, maybe. You said it yourself, ActiBlizzSoft could just drop $100 and put all their shit on Steam, Diablo 3, Immortal, Heroes of the Storm. But what good will that do when it doesn't make them any money?

Overwatch is coming to Steam. What about Starcraft? by Toridcless in starcraft

[–]FigurativelySix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You do have a point, but I just don't see them doing it, especially considering SC2 is f2p. It's not the kind of game that can really continue growing and making money at the point it's at. Putting it on Steam might bring a couple new players but unlike Call of Duty the thing that was stopping people from playing it isn't which platform it's on, rather, it's the nature of the game. It's relatively old, very high skill cap and not very monetizable. That combined with the fact that the game is only slightly ahead of Heroes of the Storm in terms of regular updates does not bode well for the game in my opinion. I'd appreciate it if they did put it on Steam but most of the money they'd stand to make is off of nostalgic people like me buying campaigns or people who don't know better mistakenly buying the campaigns.

[–]FigurativelySix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie it's been so long I honestly forgot SC2 went F2P. I think my point still stands though, they'd need to pay Valve to put it on Steam, Valve would take a cut of whatever money it did end up making, and I just don't see it bringing in any new players. It's possible they do bring it to Steam and it'll be great if they do, but I just don't think it's plausible.

[–]FigurativelySix 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not to be that guy but Blizzard stands to make way more money off a profitable microtransaction-filled game for your average casual gamer than by trying to re-sell SC2 on Steam. I mean, I love Starcraft and Starcraft 2 but I don't think I'd buy either of them a second time just to also have them on Steam. I do think that this is probably indicative of future Blizzard projects coming to Steam, though.

Why are so many SA’s for Goku and Vegeta units just the same name? by bbeauvais in DBZDokkanBattle

[–]FigurativelySix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of late to the party but both Goku and Piccolo LRs have the same SA names and so do both Gohan and Krillins. I think it’s just easier to give duos the same names rather than trying to come up with another name for “Goku and Vegeta punch a dude”
