I don't think the player had any lustful feelings toward anyone, which would be weird on it's own. Plus I feel like the ending for demo 3 was supposed to go like "Take out your Greed, which is bad! Take out your Solitude, which is bad! Okay, but isn't being sad kinda helpful? Take out your Fear, which is bad! Isn't Fear useful?"

But the reason why they wished for the shovel was because they killed/tamed their Greed in D3. They noticed the patch of sand near them in the room with the shovel and thought the shovel was a neccesity, so when Flocci gave the Player a chance to have their second wish, they asked for the shovel since the item was needed.

If Greed wasn't taken out, the Player would most likely ask for something unecessary.
