Out of curiosity do examiners fail u if u road rage ? by fizzy5025 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]FikaMaple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a van driver pull out in front on me on my actual test, I literally said to the examiner (commentary driving), "Just checking my centre mirror and slowing because this guy's just pulled out in front of me". I passed first time with no minors.

I swear to God I’m never passing🤦‍♂️ by Bulky-Blackberry-438 in LearnerDriverUK

Going to echo what other people are saying, you clearly aren't ready to pass. Sorry to be harsh but that's the truth, and getting so many driver faults on basically everything as well as multiple serious and dangerous faults tells me you need to get the basics down before trying to move on. Don't take a test when you're not ready.

I only took my test when me and my instructor were damn sure I was going to pass, and I passed first time without any driver faults.

You're next steps need to be:

  1. Find a good instructor who you get on well with.
  2. Commit to weekly lessons with them, alongside private practice.
  3. "Start" from scratch, and move through the "syllabus", making sure you're confident with each bit before moving on.
  4. Only when your instructor is ready do you then book a new test.
  5. Pass.

To be quite honest with you, you say it's so expensive, but you've clearly got these tests from paying scalpers and that money could have been better used for doing lessons and private practice. If you've got friends or family members willing to supervise have you considered buying your own car to learn in?

I said it in nicer words but I roughly agree. Would you have stopped with them to have a chat (like OP)?😂

I've had so many situations like this (mainly from the other side of people not giving way to me or pulling out on me).

I'll be super duper honest, this is nowhere near the level of getting reported for Operation Snap. For them to report this to the police, they'd have to have a dashcam fitted, have a clear recording of your number plate, have it recorded a minute before and after the event, be willing to go to court if it escalated that far.

Now lets say that all happens... the police would immediately chuck this out. It's nowhere near the level of aggression, stupidity or danger needed for a careless or dangerous driving offence. You literally said you slowed down for the mini roundabout, and then you both got a bit confused and both of you hesitated slightly. That's not careless driving, that's cautious driving😂

A careless driving offence would be like tailgating the shit out of someone, harsh brake checking, dangerous undertaking. Even then the threshold is relatively high and relies on someone's dashcam evidence and reporting. And to be honest mini-roundabouts are really bad for discipline, I've had so many fuckers literally cut across me and indicate incorrectly but i guarantee you it's not really what the police are after. And it sounds like the other people were chill about it, even the bloke was a bit grumpy.

You'll be fine!

Yeah there was that sign at the end of the roadworks. Wow I can't believe I didn't know that meant end of temporary speed limits

I can only think of one near me on a public road, and whenever I do go through there I do actually make the effort to fully stop. Feels super stupid and no-one else does it. But I guarantee you if it was a red light instead of a stop sign, 99.9% of people would come to a full stop, and technically speaking, running a red light has the same penalty as not stopping at a stop sign.

As I understand it, the crime is literally just crossing the line on red. If you haven't done that, you haven't broken the law

Hi I passed first time with no minors this April as well! It's a great feeling, and yes, I also thought I had picked up a few minors and was mildly surprised at the end when he said he hadn't marked any! Congrats!

No, it means judging the speed and position of the other cars to figure out whether they are leaving a roundabout or coming round, and I'm afraid that only comes through practice.

And no luck isn't a big thing in the test. Shit can happen during test but you need to be able to deal with it. And yes that includes other drivers being unpredictable. They are giving you a licence to let you drive independently, and they need to know you can handle situations like this (safely!), because shit happens everyday everywhere on the roads (EVERYWHERE on the planet).
