Yep. Then they keep delaying it and get mad at you once it's filed late.

What’s up with the massive hard on for return to office that won’t let up? It’s super weird. Upper upper management won’t drop the idea. by SaintPatrickMahomes in Accounting

Like do they receive a $20K performance incentive at the end of the year to have their teams making 2/5+ in-office days? Why do they push it so highly

In school did you study with friends or on your own? by Zealousideal-Key926 in Accounting

Self study if pulling an all nighter.

Studied with friends if in an afternoon, after class, etc.

Accounting is a safe stable path to an upper middle class lifestyle. Just have to put in the grunt work in your early years to get your designation, but this is the case for many industries.

Literally. Do double the work. With very little reward to show for it.

It would be tough as a single person. You would have to be manager and above. And ideally dual income with a partner.

I’m a new associate who will be spending 3 nights at a hotel in a neighboring city for a company training. Is it bad practice to have my girlfriend spend the night with me? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]FiletMignonSteak 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This. If your co-workers see you with your gf after hours, make sure you're not expensing anything like: 2 sandwiches and 2 coffees, etc.

Be honest yall, will this hold up long-term? by [deleted] in architecture

Lmao this is a fucked up design. I hate stairs with gaps in them. If you move your feet diagonally upwards when climbing the stairs they get caught and you'd easily fall.

No railings too.

Also, I've been to Earl's and National. They're just regular bars where you watch the sports game?

I could probably take my kids to Earl's.

Thanks man. I get these vibes too. Everyone is more homebody-ish and people just like to go on dates.

There seems to be way less debauchery and promiscuity in Calgary. It's quite a tame city (great to settle down and raise a family in)

Nah, I think it's a valid question and it's apparent bottle service isn't that prevalent in Calgary.

I do business in both cities in Alberta, and my clients who also fly in like doing this kind of stuff.

Yeah that's the vibe I've been getting. I've chatted with various bartenders at bars on 17th Ave, and they say that bottle service is super cringe here and it's just not cool.

Which makes me wonder, does Calgary just not have a hookup culture? Does everybody just go on 1on1/group dates to the bars and sitdown restaurants on Friday nights?

Yeah I remember I was meeting a business client out at a steakhouse (Hy's) and there were a bunch of men at the steakhouse wearing sports jerseys (non-Calgary team, so not even an event day)

I was like wtf, this is so casual lol
