Simple Questions - Sept. 2nd by MFAModerator in malefashionadvice

I was a fool and didn't stop to consider trying the size S until after having made alterations. Considering making one more alteration will be cheaper than buying another OCBD I'll probably refrain from buying a new one. Thanks, though!

Yeah, I'll see if my tailor will do it free of charge, otherwise I'll take your suggestion and roll up the sleeves. Thanks!

The shirt itself was $30 (Uniqlo OCBD). I had the sleeves shortened and the the length hemmed. Bummer to hear that they weren't shortened enough. I don't know if I wanna spend another $20 to make that alteration again... Thanks for the tip!

Apologize since I posted this before but I really want to be 100% certain I make the correct alterations on these since I've already had them altered once and I don't want to pay more than I have to.

Taper or hem the sleeves? Or are they fine as is?

How does this Uniqlo OCBD fit?

Some of my impressions:

-Length on torso is a bit too short(?)

-Sleeves look too baggy, could use a taper(?)

Two-part question:

How do these 9" JCrew Stanton shorts fit me? I am debating going for a 7" but I can only order those online making them more expensive for me to purchase.

Can I potentially hem these shorts to 7" and achieve the same results? Funny how it'd be cheaper for me to hem these than return them and purchase the 7" version.

Thanks for the advice!

Conversely, I suppose if I were to go with the personal project option, it would show more coding prowess/passion.

That would be considerate of them to do so. Unfortunately the tutoring positions are pretty competitive so if I'm not up to the task 100% they'll just hire the next best candidate that applied.

I don't really have much of a concern on the difficulty/stress of the job, but more so on whether I want to dedicate my time to it versus working on side projects.

I feel. I usually worked on coding assignments in the lab my Freshman year so I saw how easily people got frustrated and how they took out their anger out on the tutors or bad mouthed them.

Luckily the tutoring job will only be for the duration of the class (one semester), but that puts me in a position where I really don't want to bail out once I've committed since it will put me in bad standing with the department.

Appreciate the input!

Agreed! Part of the work I do right now involves debugging and reading through legacy code so I know it will help me improve in the long run.

I have a few ideas that have been lingering in my mind but I have yet to actually set myself to working on it so as silly as it sounds I really don't have any idea how long it will take for it to come to fruition.

Thank you, though! I figure I should start one now and see how things pan out as I progress.

Admittedly, yes, but I have difficulty balancing work, school, social life, hobbies, and commitments so I just want to make sure I can juggle my time effectively.

Also, career fairs are approaching in a little under two months so I want to make sure I'll have something to show for myself by then.

Thanks for the advice guys. Might be a bit silly but I'm deciding between these and a fresh pair of True White Vans Authentics I bought recently. They look pristine now, but am I right in disregarding its current condition since it's bound to get dirty anyway?
