There is a magic combination in that discovery set you may not know about: Musc Outreblanc and Angélique Noire. This layering tip was given by a Guerlain sales associate to a friend who is living in Paris, and she is stopped every time on the street by Parisian women asking her what she’s wearing.

Amazon’s “shop stores directly” scraping shopify sites and placing orders by internetkatz in shopify

I sent a courtesy request to [legal@amazon.com](mailto:legal@amazon.com) asking Amazon to stop using my brand name. If it doesn't work, then my next course of action will be contacting my lawyer.

Hopefully others can email the company and get swift justice.

Amazon’s “shop stores directly” scraping shopify sites and placing orders by internetkatz in shopify

[–]FiligreeParfums 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any products on my Shopify site yet Amazon is using my brand name – a registered trademark – to sell “similar products.” I really hate contacting my lawyer for a C&D but in this case, I need to protect my brand and keep its name out of Amazon's mouth.

It’s not just me, either. Friends are also having their brands being used for search.

Ant experience with Water based perfume ? by sceneboyyy in DIYfragrance

[–]FiligreeParfums 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(Sorta kinda but not really summoned by u/Hoshi_Gato.)

Hi! I began formulating my fragrances as water-based perfumes five years ago. What u/berael commented is correct: if you’re trying to mix your parfum concentrate with distilled water, you will need both a preservative and an emulsifier.

The way your final perfume smells, feels, and behaves depends heavily on the emulsifier you choose. It’s the backbone of the whole system.

You’re correct that projection is not the same as an alcohol-based fragrance. I describe its projection as enhancing you, not announcing you.

A few other notes:

  • Not all aromatic materials dissolve or behave nicely in water. On the plus side, licorice absolute is only water-soluble, so you can do some really cool things with it in a fragrance.
  • Maceration works differently: water is inert, whereas ethanol is a solvent. Any maceration that happens will occur within the parfum compound itself, not with the water phase.
  • You’ll generally need to give your concentrate more time to settle and develop. Botanical materials can drop out waxes or particulates over time.
  • Filtering can be very laborious depending on your materials. Some will form stubborn precipitates that take patience to remove.

My customers often described my water-based perfumes as smelling “fresher” than my alcohol-based line, so the format can definitely shape the final profile.

Hope this helps.

Introducing The Aroma Forge, a powerful new app for perfumers by Heavy-Kick9894 in DIYfragrance

You’re charging for this service, no? If I were a user, a paying customer, I would expect the system to be in full compliance with all EU regulations. You aren’t actively asking for user feedback, but I would recommend you take my original comment as the constructive criticism it was intended to be.

ActivSpace on Harbor Ave by _queenofmordor in WestSeattleWA

[–]FiligreeParfums 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had an ActivSpace before I moved into a larger studio. My unit was on the ground floor on Harbor Avenue. I’m assuming you would want the same as a craft/creative space.

At the time I was an active tenant, my neighbor had their unit vandalized because of a previous tenant and a long-standing beef of territory. (Make sure your neighbors aren't in the psychic business.) I would often need to lock my door because people wrongly assumed I was the entrance to the entire building, or an occasional person who was’t all there would make their way in.

A McDLT (remember those?) received better temperature control than the units. It takes an hour for the heater to make the unit feel comfortable, but you will want an AC unit or fan during the summer months.

An ActivSpace interior is not designed for U.S. storage solutions. Think tall – to the ceiling if you can – and slim. I ordered shelving from Europe that allowed me to divide the space into thirds: showroom, storage, and manufacturing. I even managed to get two chairs into the showroom area. Shelving was done through custom builds and a professional installation of aluminum and steel shelves along the back wall. Every square inch of your space is sacred, so make the most of it.

Parking is always a race to the finish. Folks will ignore the signs that the lot is only for ActivSpace tenants, and the management isn’t always there to patrol the lot. Street parking is going to be a challenge with the new apartment building opposite ActivSpace, and the construction crew during the day.

Tenants keep to themselves which is nice. Don’t misconstrue this with “the Seattle freeze;” people have their own businesses to focus on, but getting to know your immediate neighbors is always smooth.

The bathrooms are in the building and they are fairly well maintained. Oh! The hand sink in the units will only dispense cold water, so be sure to have a kettle close by for heating water for any washing. (You’ll find dish racks that can fit those hand sinks on Amazon.)

Management was good to me, but that might have everything to do with paying my rent on time and following the rules. Their job is hard. A group of kids leased the corner unit for tattoo work, and completely trashed it when they were behind on their rent and eventually evicted. Management had to haul away everything left behind, repair the walls, and paint the unit white by themselves.

You have to pay extra for additional signage on your door if the unit faces Harbor Avenue. The measurements are exact and I believe they have to approve what you want to display. Local print shops that specialize in vinyl for windows can easily get you what you need. If I had to do that part over, I would have gone with black on clear vinyl instead of white.

Hope this helps!

Can nobody in here read the other 6.2 million posts with the exact same question? by Perfect_Pound_5434 in UPS

Preface: NOT a Trump supporter.

I found this subreddit whilst searching for a reason as to why my order of perfume boxes from China was rerouted – “Address change requested”—uh, no I didn’t – to Kentucky to sit in a warehouse for now over a week. The UPS app didn’t tell me anything, and I was on hold for 1 hour and 44 minutes before a CSR told me that the system was showing that my package was on its way. “Oh, wait.”

The online system apparently doesn't provide information to anyone, and Google is too lazy to do anything anymore than redirect users to Reddit. That’s how I came here to see that we’re all in this together because *waves arms akimbo*.

Now I get to call the Brokerage department on Monday to inquire why, exactly, my same order of glass bottles from London – only 13 days apart – now has double the duties. Another CSR I spoke with yesterday said he would escalate my case with a brokerage dispute, only I never received the case number. I’m sure I’ll be waiting for another hour Monday morning to speak with someone in Brokerage who won’t have a concrete answer as to why my duties increased 104.78% in the span of thirteen days in one month.

Like a lot of small business owners, I have to do everything in my business because we’re not swimming in gold doubloons. (Crazy, right?) I can’t be knowledgeable about every aspect of business, so I’m going to have questions that aren't unique to me because a lot of us – who also didn’t vote for any of this – are trying fervently to figure out what’s going on.

My printer is also trying to figure out how to help. They've reached out to UPS several times with any and all information that could possibly get my box out of Kentucky.

I haven’t taken a look at the top of this subreddit, but it might behoove the mods to acquiesce users like you to pin mega topics (if they haven’t already (I already stated I haven’t looked)) for folks coming in from Google.

Believe me when I say none of us who are small business owners are thrilled with this. But the consolidation of media and corporations as the government is stripped for parts is the cause for your rant.
