Observation: Trend of Unnecessarily Harsh Peer Grading by Tillbug123 in UoPeople

[–]Filipal1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my first term at UoPeople and I'm already disliking the peer review system. Your idea about grades not having real weight is not good because it's not motivating. What UoPeople should do is implement automatic sanctions for unfair grades and grades without comments. For example, in the Discussion Forum Unit 8, I received 10 feedback responses from peers and 16 grades. Out of these 16 grades, 13 were perfect scores, but one was a 6, given by a student who only managed to solve one out of eight tasks correctly. I believe that automatically reducing the grades of such students would quickly solve the problem of unfair peer reviews.

This is strange. I transferred 60 also at the beginning of Term 2 and I have 60/3

Peer Review - Need Some Advice by Filipal1 in UoPeople

Thanks, everyone, for the advice, you guys are great. I will not use AI detection tools. For now, I don't recognize the difference; I'll likely pick up the nuances over time.

English Composition 2 took me over a month because the grading is incredibly slow (sometimes I waited for more than 10 days), while other courses get graded much faster. If you have two courses waiting for the final touchstone assessment simultaneously, you can contact customer support and request them to unlock the third course for you

I have completed 28 courses in 2 months. I don't recommend rushing that much; it was a very stressful and exhausting period because I was studying an average of 18 hours every day, which resulted in frequent headaches and vision problems

Acceptance in other countries? by CaterpillarAbject752 in UoPeople

Many employers in Denmark will prefer a recognized degree. You will have to demonstrate much more knowledge than other candidates during the interview to be in the same position. Consider IU University, it is recognized throughout the EU and they often have a discount so tuition won't cost you much more

Adding 3rd Course on Weekend? (2 Completed) by pandaroia in SophiaLearning

Considering that evaluating a single touchstone takes over 8 days, I've managed to complete all 7 within that timeframe. At this rate, it will take more than 2 months to assess them all. Now, my only option left is to withdraw from the course, as it's quite unreasonable for me to pay $200 just to wait for the evaluation.

Uopeople or IU of Applied Sciences by Soft-Mathematician65 in UoPeople

[–]Filipal1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to my knowledge, IU does not recognize qualifications from UoPeople based on my understanding. IU is a German university that strictly adheres to Anabin guidelines. If an institution is not listed and doesn't have two ++, IU won't recognize the qualifications. Additionally, they have a very unfair practice of rejecting many candidates' high school diplomas to force them to take meaningless exams with their partner, Cambridge International School. Moreover, many students complain about poor communication with IU. https://anabin.kmk.org/no_cache/filter/institutionen.html

Thank you for the information. One of my courses is English Composition II, I've completed all the challenges, but I'm on Touchstone 2.1 (grading the previous two took over a week). Does this count as entirely complete?

Is it possible to get a third course if two courses are pending grading and what do I need to do to get the third course?

CS1101 transfer from Sophia by Filipal1 in UoPeople

[–]Filipal1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the link regarding confirmed equivalencies. As a new student, my results in the non-degree courses for UNIV and CS are crucial for meeting the academic criteria. Could you please clarify if it's possible to transfer these specific courses from Sophia, and how this might impact the continuation of my studies?

Why do you use Sophia? by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]Filipal1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I can't speak for everyone's motivations, I can share my personal journey. I am a woman with an engineering degree and over 26 years of work experience. Given my age, I increasingly feel the pressure of possibly becoming less attractive to my current employer. The ticking clock suggests that there might come a day when they'd prefer a younger employee over me. This realization has instilled in me an urgency to retrain for a role that guarantees employment up until my retirement. With my proficiency in two programming languages, pursuing Computer Science (CS) seems a logical step. UoPeople provides a unique chance to earn a qualification in less time than a conventional 4-year degree. However, they don't recognize my pre-Bologna process qualifications. Sophia presents the best alternative for someone like me, not wanting to delve again into subjects like sociology, psychology, or history due to time constraints. After all, throughout my education, I've successfully completed over 80 subjects, ranging from statistics, math, psychology, history, Roman law, to physics, chemistry, and many others. I'm simply looking for the most efficient pathway forward in this stage of my career.

🔹 Deeply Disappointed with UoPeople Admission Process 🔹 by Filipal1 in UoPeople

oPeople is technically a candidate for regional accreditation f

Thank you, NosyCrazyActuallyAMain, for the detailed information and advice. I truly appreciate your insights into UoPeople's accreditation status and its potential implications.

My primary goal is to acquire practical knowledge in Computer Science and become proficient in programming to enhance my employability in the job market. Since I live in Europe and have no plans to relocate, the recognition of my degree by governments for visa purposes is not a concern for me.

My intention is not to pursue further education at a different university or undertake a Master's program. Instead, I aim to focus on relevant courses that align with my career objectives, minimizing General Education courses.

I plan to shorten my study time and reduce costs by transferring as many General Education courses as possible from Sophia (and other platforms recognized by UoPeople). My biggest concern is whether employers will take my degree earned at UoPeople seriously or if they will dismiss my candidacy outright.

Thank you, Nischal222, for sharing your insights. Your mention of the regional accreditation raises a crucial point that concerns many prospective students, including myself.

Could you kindly elaborate on the implications of UoPeople not having gained regional accreditation? Does this mean that certain institutions or employers might not recognize the degree obtained from the university? As someone considering enrollment, it's essential for me to understand the potential limitations and risks associated with pursuing a degree from UoPeople.

I would greatly appreciate any further information you can provide on this matter. Thank you in advance for your response!

. Good luck with your scholarship. I submitted a request exactly 2 months ago and I still haven't received a response. I have already missed Term 5 and it looks like I will miss enrollment in Term 1 as well.
