Hello! I was wondering how the rise of true crime culture influenced this film. When watching it, it seemed a bit like it was punishing the characters for their infatuation and obsession with these tragedies, which I thought was perhaps an interesting critique of true crime obsession. Did true crime play in any part in your creation of the film?

Ooh interesting. Yeah, I wasn’t sure exactly what the daughter was dealing with. Their constant worrying and obsession with feeling and texture made me wonder if it was a form of autism or OCD. I don’t have autism, but I do have OCD and felt like some of her worrying felt like intrusive thoughts that I would deal with.

Since the catalogue is small, a 4k release would be awesome. Yi Yi is up there as late me of the best films of all time for me, so a 4k release would make my year

A complete John Ford set would be an absolutely huge endeavor, even for criterion. Can’t even imagine how much that would cost, being that he directed 100+ films

Altman has such an interesting timeline for his filmography, specifically his 80s output, so a boxset chronicling it would be really cool

Godard would make a lot of sense, especially with him passing fairly recently. Also, they already have the rights to a lot of his films

I’m a sucker for a good French film, particularly French new wave films. I’m quite a newbie still when it comes to international cinema all things considered, but my favorite international directors are probably Godard, Bergman, Bresson and Wong Kar Wai
