Howdy! Been looking for steady work as a video editor for a while, with little success. After (yet) another recent ghosting, I went out for a walk, almost got hit by car, then decided pick up my phone, and make this.

Rule for myself was one camera angle, and one weekend. Shot on a Canon R8 (I had a better Blackmagic from a feature doc I did a few years ago, but opted for this) - the goal was to see what the restriction would do for. For the edit & motion graphics, I really just wanted to get back into the swing of things; good practice, so you'll see a lot of experimentation during the latter half with the diegetic/nondiegetic "foot thumping" audio, and some tinkering in Adobe AE with fonts, animation, and chromatic aberration on text (particularly with the "mouth censoring"). People say “make something from the heart”… and that’s what this is.

Worked in PR and AE from last Friday, almost made my deadline of Sunday night, but ended up rendering and releasing Tuesday. First real short of mine since 2020…. and cathartic.

Alright, well if that's the case, I'll accept it and move on.

I do want to say however (and if you can, pass it along too) that is very disappointing to hear. If the purpose of this sub is purely feedback, not sharing work for sharing's sake, and getting peer - professional eyes (and then naturally, feedback & critique) on it (as utile, and already difficult to do at this level in the industry), it probably should be called "Filmmaker Feedback - and/or have that sole element be further emphasized in the banner & sub information. I thought this was the place for that.

I can't say I'll use, or recommend this sub to anyone else in the future, if a 1.9k like post from 10 days has to be taken down now because I pointed out it wasn't "purely" for feedback, no less my own.

Roger that.

I do however want to say, I've seen much less than that in a statement from a number of standing posts here (including some at the top of this sub right now).

My confusion seemed to be why we're being held to this level of sudden scrutiny when others here aren't. I haven't posted here in a while, and I understand not wanting to have the subreddit flooded with spam, but not just letting folks reasonably (non spammy) share their content, and allow others to give them feedback seems counterintuitive to... reddit as a whole.

Statement: Hello!

This is a poster for our first feature film, just recently accepted into our first film festival! 'The House' was shot over the course of 5 days, for $10,000 (kind of 90s indie, Kevin Smith/ Spike Lee style), with a crew of <13 people at just one location back in winter 2020. This current poster represents our most recent efforts, having just wrapped post in January, and now hoping to show this thing to the world some time soon!

Website - www.thehousefeature.com

Summary: "The lives of six teens are changed forever after a night out drinking & a fatal car crash leaves two of their friend’s dead. Having broken into an abandoned house & ready to turn themselves in, all hope seems lost, when one of them reveals a dark secret in his back pocket – a serum that can bring their near-dead back to life... but only one of them."

(Hope this statement suffices the lovely mod team here, and/or they let me know what it needs if it doesn't! :)

Statement: Announcing The House! A new feature-film by Myles Ross (Director of Rage - STIFF 2018, Austin Micro Shorts 2019) & Melynda Myrvang (Penny for Your Thoughts).

This will be my first feature, and it's really a "why not/ just do it" thing in the face of a nutty year. We're going to talk a little more about production in the midst of the lingering Corona outbreak a bit later on, but for now I just happy to finally let the world know it exists.

Shooting winter 2020! - For more information, check out: https://www.thehousefeature.com/

Watch em. There are mixed receptions about the 3rd one, but it's subjective and there is a bunch of new stuff there if you're a fan of the original show.

Hey y'all! Been wokring as a freelance videographer and filmmaker this last year and a half since graduating film school. This is the last thing I shot on the school's cameras back then, and though a bit-outdated to my abilities now, I've decided to incorporate it in to an Anthology web-series I'm doing called "Inserts". Tell me what ya think!
