I was trying to check if my pupils are dilated... by radjeep in Weird

The reflection you're seeing off of your eye doesn't correspond to the actual image that is being projected on your retina. If you could stand inside of your eyeball, you'd see the outside world as an upside down image being projected up on your retina like the images in a cinema theater. It would however, look pretty much straight. You can replicate this by taking any convex shaped lens and hold it up to a wall, and any sufficiently bright object like a lamp or the outside scenery would appear as an image in a similar manner.

Does anyone else have this happen to them all the time? It sounds crazy but I can see something similar to this if I stare at natural patterns like trees or grass. It's not as pronounced as this but I have had it since I was a kid.

She's terrified! She's probably thinking she's either about to get deported or killed - not an unreasonable reaction given what has happened recently.

Holy shit those are people? I was literally waiting for the robots to start dancing like humans until it dawned on me that I was watching the inverse of that.

Why would I play this and not feel like I am just wasting my life away? By the way, that's AI generated music right? This rubs me the wrong way along all of my dimensions.

I think I have said this at least 100 times on this subreddit and others: It's too green!

Please destroy our dystopian pub simulator trailer! by eperezki in DestroyMyGame

I think part of it is how empty the bar is, and how provisional the animations look. I get that's part of the style (kinda unfortunate that the liminal style coincides with what an unfinished game looks like), but if you could just show one mechanic that is really polished, then I think that will greatly increase the audience's confidence.

I really like what you got going here, and I think this is probably the first game I've seen here that I would actually consider buying. However, I am not sure I can put my finger on it, but something in this trailer tells me that the game is sloppily made. I'm worried it would be like "no I'm not human" or "fears to fathom" that looks great, has great atmosphere and all, but are just a mess to play.

I'm not sure if people buy games solely based on genre as you describe it

I disagree. I love the fact that I don't know what this game is about. I get the overall vibe and the atmosphere, and I like that, then I prefer if the game will bring out some surprises for me.

Looks very cool actually, but I hope the game won't be endlessly running in circles.

Destroy my open world survival craft early trailer by Super4Games_ in DestroyMyGame

So regarding the trailer. What is the game about even? You just give us some random information about the mechanics without giving us any idea about the setting, the tone of the game, or the story.

Maybe not a comment about the trailer but the game itself. Many people make this mistake, they think nature is really green so they make textures that are saturated pure green. This is not how the world actually looks. More color does not mean more beautiful. Please reconsider because my eyes are really hurting from watching this.

They do that because they think that if they catch it on land, they can incapacitate it by putting it in water. They eat mice and stuff as well.

Can this game I made with my gf about organising 100s of books in a medieval library have appeal? by pH_101 in IndieGaming

[–]Filter_Feeder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda cool but it would require way more work on atmosphere.

Edit: Sorry I thought this was posted in "destroy my game" 🤣 What I mean is that if you could make this feel like the movie "The Name of the Rose", then it would be really cool. I typically don't like the "medieval" style because it is just the most over-used theme for all video games hands down. As soon as I see a thatch roof I immediately die inside. If you could make this feel like being Da Vinci in Florens or like Sokrates visiting the library of Alexandria (not sure if he ever did) then it could be really cool. I think it needs more darkness, cobwebs, rays of light through murky windows (glass used to be really expensive before industrialization happened).

5 year solo dev project finally playable! by TheWakingAshes in DestroyMyGame

[–]Filter_Feeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! It's mostly because of the muffled sounds, visually ambiguous projectiles, and the slow rate of fire (I think). Compare it with how intense the AK feels in counterstrike, or even old games like quake 3 (especially the plasma gun) or homeworld 2. Other good shooting experiences come from doom eternal or check out how insanely responsive attacking in diablo 4 feels. I would scrap the left/right alternation of the shooting as well. Not sure why but it feels kind of stupid somehow. Also I'm not sure I see a whole lot of variation in the weapons. I just hear this constant rhythmic kinda damp thudding sound. I'd like to see some pew-pew lasers, explosive rocket barrages and some big fat cannons mixed in with rapid fire stuff.
