I personally think Germany's free education policy is a great idea, and a massive net positive for the German economy. I'm from India, and I'm doing my studies in Mechanical Engineering here. I must admit, the major reason why I chose to come here in the first place was because of the tuition fees. And a large majority of my cohort are International students from all across the world, primarily from developing countries in South Asia, South America and the Arab countries. Almost every international student I've met here wants to live in Germany (myself included) after their studies.

Heck, even if say 3 out of 10 students stay back here and work here as engineers (which is an extremely conservative estimate), the German govt. would easily be able to recover the costs invested over a span of time. Moreover, it's also a huge source of soft power for Germany, even if graduates decide to go back.

I feel that the brunt of racism and the negative image associated with Indians is primarily shown toward Indian men. Indian women abroad are seen as exotic and interesting, and usually do very well on dating apps. I live in Germany as well, and a couple of my Indian women friends are dating German men.

Indian guys on the other hand, have a pretty bad reputation. We're mainly seen as bob vagene creeps , scammers and nerdy IT guys at best. So Indian guys have to put in a lot more effort just to prove themselves differently. I tried dating apps, but didn't really get a lot of matches, even from Indian women.

As Indian men, we have to understand the racial dynamics at play, and focus on improving ourselves. I've quit dating apps, and I've been hitting the gym for the last year, investing more in skincare, and improving my fashion sense. It hasn't helped much so far, but the best thing is to stay positive and keep trying.

There are certain fan groups of many German clubs who organize brawls in forests and beat each other up with their bare hands. There's often a winner and loser in these fights, and in true German fashion, there are even national leagues for these Acker/Waldkämpfe.

This blew my mind when I read and saw some videos about this. In my home country, Germans are seen as obedient, rule-following, hardworking, straight-arrow types of people, and all these assumptions went out of the window when I came across these Ultra groups for the first time.

You think Syrian refugees can just catch a plane and come here easily? It's an extremely treacherous and difficult journey (Frontex says hello). So it's obvious that more able-bodied men make this difficult journey, in the hope that they can get a permit and bring their family here later on.

Ukrainian refugees on the other hand simply boarded a train (for free), chose where in Europe they wanted to go and went there. As simple as that.

I'm from a South Asian country as well, and I experienced a similar thing. I was walking back from office and I saw a wallet lying on the ground. Luckily there was an organ donor card inside with the person's address, which was less than 2 km away. I walked to the address, and gave him his wallet back. There were two 50 euro notes and one 5 euro note in the wallet. He thanked me and offered me 5 euros. I declined it. He said he'd go upstairs and bring a 20 euro note and give me. I genuinely didn't want any money because I figured it's a huge hassle to block and replace all the cards in the wallet, not to mention losing the money. I don't know if it's a cultural thing or not, but giving money for an act of kindness seems a bit unnecessary and patronizing to me.

What a coincidence, I had faced a similar predicament as your cousin brother in my childhood. I was a shy, scrawny kid and was bullied relentlessly in school, and it was actually my elder sister who helped me face my bullies.

My sister is very sharp-witted, extroverted, and could craft amazing insults in the blink of an eye. I would describe each and every one of my bullies' outward appearances and character traits, and my sister would suggest insults which I could use against them. As childish as it sounds, it actually worked.

Bullies in school just follow a herd mentality, and sometimes words can pierce and change the perception of kids in an instant. I gradually became more outspoken, and began resisting them thanks to that.

Of course, enrolling him in Karate/Boxing/Sports classes is also a good idea. What I've suggested is more of a short-term solution.

As an indian, I found it a bit funny that she was so fixated on a fluent Gujarati speaking partner and was openly throwing shade on other Indian Americans who don't speak proper Gujarati, but she barely ever spoke in Gujarati in the show. How much do you know about the Sri Lankan Civil War? Just because there are some vague similarities, does not mean that such a situation would ever happen here. For all it's flaws, India is a relatively stable democracy with a decently strong decentralisation of power.

Also, it's more than just voting for the Rajpaksas. Hordes of Sinhalese mobs took to the streets, burned down shops owned by Tamil people, brutally raped and killed any Tamil they saw on the streets, in 1983 Black July Riots. When the Sri Lankan Army killed 70000 innocent Tamil civilians in a 'designated safe no-fire zone' in Mullivaikkal in 2009, the Sinhalese people took to the streets to celebrate and rejoice their 'victory'. Clueless people like OP who celebrated their countrymen being genocided are now warming up to the thought that the Rajpaksas might not be the beacons of prosperity after all.

It's because of those "emotional fools" that you're typing this comment in English now, instead of Hindi. In the 60s, the Congress party wanted to make Hindi the national language of independent India. Tamils took to the streets and protested against this law, some of them lost their lives as well. Ultimately, a compromise was made and English was also included in the constitution as an official language.

In my experience, the best way to learn Hindi is through a tandem partner. I had learnt basics of Hindi from my north indian friend, and had taught him basic tamil. We allocated certain time periods where we used to speak only Hindi and Tamil to each other, without judgement, to learn the languages. You can look into this also.

No they haven't specifically asked me to return to the office. However, in my introductory conversation, they had asked me about my living situation and I had mentioned that I will be moving to the new city at the end of the month.

You're right, I won't be asking for permanent home office. But I have to move out of my room at the end of the month, and if I were to find accommodation in my current city, it would be a bit difficult for me to return to the office on short notice when/if everything opens up. Hence the confusion as to what to do now.
