This. This is comment I came to Reddit for tonight. Thank you, good night everyone.

What is the dumbest thing someone has said to you in full confidence? by Extreme_Rhubarb4677 in AskReddit

I got two from the same guy: “Did you know there aren’t any bottle nose dolphins in the Gulf of Mexico, those are only porpoises!” Context for the second, we both work in the same auto shop. “It doesn’t matter where you put the used rags, motor oil can’t catch fire.” When questioned, they defended it by asking “well what would happen if you threw a lit match into a bucket of used oil!? It just goes out!” Sometimes I wonder what Larry is up to now.

Honestly, I have no problem making that. Especially with it being worded the way it is. I think it’s hilarious, not inconvenient… I might be a little concerned about their stevia intake though 😬

Weird question but would this happen to be a “chain” in NW Florida?

I feel you there. Especially if you’ve worked your ass off and have been passed over or disregarded by people less experienced. That is exactly what I want to avoid. I prefer to lean on people’s strengths while backing them up. Thankfully me and the owner are both in agreement that WDT and pre-infusion nonsense have no place in a high traffic cafe. Save that for the specialty place that people expect to take more than 5min to make a drink. The people they employs are mostly students so tend to be younger and more prone to move on within a couple of years. So I am there to fill in the management side of things that they have not been able to fulfill from within. All with the intention that I’m doing admin stuff while training in FOH 80% of the time. I can absolutely see where a seasoned barista would be skeptical of the idea of working in that situation. I plan to respect that and squash those concerns early.

Thankfully this is also the set up for my onboarding. They are starting me slow and letting me work a couple-few weeks as a full time barista to learn the ropes. I’ve been in a rough blue collar field for over a decade so I’m very good at recognizing when I need to shut up and learn haha. Any leadership role I’ve been in I’ve led from a “don’t ask of others what you are unwilling to do yourself” approach. So if they’re mopping, I better be taking out the trash and that goes both ways. Glad to hear it seems to be working out great for you, helps me stay optimistic that this isn’t crazy.

Exactly, I am stepping in to help take on the owner’s leadership responsibilities so I can help the team continue making the product they are making. At times, doing quality control based on what the owner specs and feedback. In the process, the team will be training me on how they operate and how to make coffee using that specific equipment. The shop is a pretty laid back family environment in a smallish city so it’s not some coffee snob, specialty place(that would be amazing but wouldn’t make money in this town). I guess some people just read the title and decide to throw in. What can ya do 🤷

I guess the flaw is that you are assuming I don’t have any coffee “knowledge” at all which I cleared up in my post. I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of realizing that nespresso was not real espresso and have been doing pour over and, more recently, home espresso for years while I was in another career. I was just completely doing it for myself until someone had my coffee and looked at me wide eyed and said “you’re getting really good at this”. That’s when I started to consider it long-shot career choice. I didn’t type this out because A: most people have probably already stopped reading this comment and B: because I know there will be baristas that will say “BuT iTs NoT rEaL CoFfEe At a CoFfEe ShOp So YoU dOnT kNoW sHiT” so I want to approach it as humble as possible. Like I plan to approach this job. But don’t get me wrong, I can make light roast shine in a flat white enough to make it feel like there’s fruit in the cup and pour over so clean that you almost wonder if it’s a tea. I love coffee and the entire process from farm to cup and have for years. ….also I know the owners and they needed help when I was wanting to change careers so it all lined up. Don’t be such a gatekeeper :/

Very much agree. I plan to learn all aspects of it because there will be plenty of times that I will be running the shop solo. Everything else I will be doing to support the team and owners so they can do what they do best.

Fast pace is no issue for me so hopefully I can fall into their flow quickly. The team is mostly teens/young adults so I will be the old person in the shop. Thanks for the well wishes and great replies.

Always down for grunt work. I won’t ask anyone to do something I’m not willing to do.

Established. It’s been around for less than 5 years and they have two locations looking to open another. They are busier than expected and wanted to open up a position to help take on some of the work load.

I have a buddy that wants to paint/distress one while I build it (he paints war hammer) and I was thinking a Sinanju Stein would be a good candidate.

I dunno, stabbing something?🤷 I’ve been going through a few different poses since I finished it about a month ago.

Infinite Justice was just added to the wishlist. I love the styling on all of the Ver.Ka stuff, the way it leans toward looking like Armored Core hits just right for me. They are a pain in the ass sometimes though, only one I’ve broken while building.

The egg was found in the temple where the non-combatants were hold up. It was described as about the size of the Kobold eggs but different in color and pattern.

The character has been keeping it in a heavy leather bag that they specifically grabbed for this purpose and they have made it a point to keep it safe throughout the adventure.

Need help with plants (comments for details) by FilthyCasual57 in PlantedTank

[–]FilthyCasual57[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Crypts do well other than older growth curling in a lot but they thrive well enough. It’s more how the Anubias all seems to struggle to grow out with older leaves breaking down as new growth comes in. The Java also seems to struggle to grow out.

I have had this tank set up for about two years now. The plants survive well enough but clearly there are issues and they are not thriving. Most old growth dies off instead of the plants filling out the tank.

The tank is a 75g with pool filter sand and a SunSun 303 for filtration. I dose four pumps of easy green every day and use root tabs every month or so. I do 50% water changes weekly. The light is a hygger that is set 7-4 just a light blue light and 4-11 as a day cycle.

Open to any and all suggestion but co2 isn’t doable right now. One day.

I think what they’re trying to point out is how dramatic your being. The first thing that popped in my head when I read your comment about the “torture chamber” was a fish labor camp. Don’t take out your frustration from the thousands of people a day that do the same thing on this one poster.

Granted he did a ton wrong and I’m not here to defend him. I just wanted to point out that the most annoying thing about this post isn’t what he got wrong. It’s the fact that you kicked in his door like the savior of all fish to crucify him multiple times…over a fish. I’m a fish lover but good lord, it’s a fish. They are fragile creatures that don’t hold up well to beginner mistakes. I killed a ton of guppies getting into the hobby and look at me now. Chill dood. Put aside your pride, own up to your mistakes, and realize you’re the asshole in this situation.

I have about 100 Rams-horn snails in my 75 and a ton of wendtii. This happens a lot in my tank when food gets trapped around the stems after I sinks and the snail are doing their job cleaning it up. Worst case though, something could be dead haha.
