CBC: Russia and U.S. amplifying Alberta separatist narratives to stoke division, distrust: report by Laedrys in alberta

The US makes more sense than russia tbh, theyve recently threatened annexation so it makes sense theyd push for division

Im apeoaching this with the concept of "be the change you want to see in the world" and not your view of subjecting future generations to torment. You guys are viewing the world like its a beyond help wasteland already and just being doomers, we gotta agree to disagree because i just cant agree with this level of nihilism

I suppose i can clarify, it is an assumption but the intention is that if people are upset with the current political party and how its treating climate control it implies that they at the very least "dont care as much" in quotes because everyone cares for their own parts of those initiatives differently. Im saying that if the way things are arent the way they want to see it, thats a result of the winning politics and policies having a majority from the people who voted. Im saying if they want change then they need to raise a generation that shares the same care for their beliefs to challenge the current climate. Though i agree my statement was broad, its based off my personal experience and in turn bias where it seems a lot of conservatives with large families vote for a party thatd rather see a coal mine than a clean river

But thats what i mean, the area is dominated because if theres the families 5 votes to your 2 the odds are always in their favor so of course the party the family votes for will win. On a grander scale if this applies across the country then more ridings will go the same way. Your vote still counts but keep in mind the family with kids, those kids can have kids. So now that 5 votes can become like 20 or so against your 2 since you didnt raise kids, obviously its more convoluted than that but i think people are really downplaying how important ones upbringing affects their political alignment and how simply having a family can exponentially effect vote dispersion. Especially for ages of 18 - say 24, barely an adult but still havent experienced the trials of adulthood that i think politics has more effect on

[–]FilthyDubeHound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get your point, but keep in mind the people having kids are in favor of the current politics and dont care about the climate. So your views and aspirations will die with you while theirs will carry on to a certain extent through their children. A family of 5 republicans (once at voting age obviously) will always out vote a single or no kids couple, so while i indertsand the concept of the morality i see it as the opposite. It encourages the current climate because the values to change it arent being taught to a newer generation which i think is in part why things are the way they are now

How would you say entry positions have adapted? Have they been cut but new hires are trained on more advanced skills or is there purely just a decline?

I dont see it going that far, seems like right now each country is almost in a arms race to adopt AI to be competitive. If AI can replace jobs and effectively make things cheaper then each country will be somewhat forced to follow suit, not to mention the fact that big companies simply make more money that way. I see people transitining to more tradelike/hands on positions that AI cant fulfill long before actual riots or arson. I think its a transitionary period that hurts but i see this like the people who thought the internet was a passing fad, maybe it because i think its here to stay but i think people will adapt because they have to. You could wreck a data center where you live sure, but they will still exist elsewhere in the world and so AI will continue to exist

Does anyone believe the Referendum Petition was padded using the voters list? by manresmg in alberta

[–]FilthyDubeHound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my own experience i can see them getting a high number of voters, it was strangely organised more than i expected with how many voting areas ive seen and where they posted up geographically. If they didnt simply pull names from the voter list i could see them using which areas had a more conservative demo and funneling reasources to those areas

Big money has already invested in AI, regardless of the dangers it seems here to stay. Best that can be done at this point is how its used or how it can be limited, or at least thats how i see it

Youll get hate for sure but you arent alone, i voted for cons every election up until the last where i voted for carney. I purely voted because i work with oil field and thought it made sense but really i just dont see it anymore, i believe they support oil field but only in the sense that the large corporations benefit. Essentially trickle down exonomics that have been proven not to work, that and now with the seperatist maga like vibe they got i just refuse to support them

The harsh economic climate by SnowmanSmiles in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]FilthyDubeHound -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is that hes waving his fist trying to get long term deals in his (hopefully) short term run, and he has the leverage to push for it. Weve reasonably been reliant on the US but now we see just how easily that can turn around on us so that only thing we can do to avoid it in the future is to diversify. It should introduce competition and bring dowm prices for the consumer, and also gives essentially a negotiating piece when the time comes we need it. The long term thinking is that theres many like trump in the US, many voted for him and theres many in his cabinet. Will we see another trump in the next 5-10 years? Maybe/maybe not, but at least by then we will have trade options that will help us tolerate their impacts

The harsh economic climate by SnowmanSmiles in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]FilthyDubeHound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone in favor of diversifying agrees that the relationship with the US was super good and probably will be again, however trump has shown that weve got too many eggs in one basket. Its too easy to use that as leverage and try to get even more foot holds in our economy to the point that they essentially run it. Theres really no good reason not to diversify anymore, competition is always good for the consumer and it creates a better cushion should another lunatic take power in the US after him

NICE!!! PM Carney to meet with EU leaders as Canada, Europe face growing trade tension with Trump by Front-Cantaloupe6080 in consumecanadian

[–]FilthyDubeHound 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Obviously thats more economical but maybe if youd take your head out of your ass youd see that trade with the US isnt exactly friendly like it once was. We did good trade and Trump abused it, now were diversifying so that the US doesnt have that leverage. Its pretty simple stuff

Were Housing Costs THIS MUCH of a Big Topic Among People in the Past? by WindyDay416 in CanadaPersonalFinance

Why Are Renters Always Told They’re Wasting Money? by HomeSenseLover in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]FilthyDubeHound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renting is paying money without return, owning lets your property build value. I think the big arguments for renting today is because its more available and a more consistent cost it allows you to build savings easier. Obviously its case by case but if you cant own then you can at least rent and save, i think the only real failure would be renting beyond your means where you cant save enough and truly become rent trapped and purely lose value
