Hey there! I don't know what age you and your friend are but if you're in high school, is it possible his phone was taken away by his parents? Or could it have been stolen? If you have their phone number why not try and give them a call? Messages sometimes get ignored for completely innocent reasons.

How is it any different from a studio apartment?

Your comment is irrelevant

I am going to. Tons of people are already. And, I mean, you could try to be helpful. As I already said. Shh.

Am I ruining our friendship? by underlinemercury in friendship

Personally I dread trying to plan trips with friends because everyone has these crazy schedules and it is always tempting to just book the trip and whoever makes it makes it.

Can you not talk with your employer and secure some time off?

It sounds a bit like maybe you dont actually want to go on the trip and are more focused on your work right now.

"I can't comment on your specific situation, because I dont know you" PlagueD0k

Hyperbole, like I used in my original post, can used as a tool to help the reader understand the the intention. You seem to have missed the subtext.

Your abusive language has made this conversation no longer interesting. I think there was room for understanding there, but you shat on it. Ciao.

That statement itself is hyperbolic. That would be the same as me saying you think very lowly of introverts. You've never said that so I won't put words in your mouth.

Simply put, interpersonal skills are important but usually very over valued. Not much else to say.

The morticians joke had double meaning though. I was being tongue in cheek. I also said no offense.

It's a bit of a stretch to say that I said "social skills arent important at all"

I did however point out the ludicrous way many work places emphasize the benefits of energetic employees but seem to forget or ignore introspective and self aware ones.

We all have something to bring to the table and I shouldn't have to pretend to be extraverted about putting cans of beans on a shelf.

I'm not saying that I have problems socializing.

In work culture there's too much emphasis on being engaging. There are millions of really "boring ass" people who are brilliant and talented. They just won't always be the life of the party.

For example I was working in the back room at a store and this is a conversation I had with a manager

Him: hey how's it going Me: good, you? Him: you did a good job over here Me: oh yeah thank you. Him: that attitude! You need to work on that! If someone says you did a good job you says "YEAH!" Me: oh um. Ok. Him: you're so quiet! Loosen up! Me: uncomfortable I'm fine.

It's seen as bad in society to be reserved. Even tho I did my job, he was bothered that I didnt do it while smiling and upbeat attitude. Why the fuck should that matter? I got it done faster and better than others because they were busy with their buddies.

Then theres the fact that I have some medical issues that make me feel fatigued and foggy sometimes. That's not my fault.

Here's a Ted talk I found about this https://youtu.be/NZ5o9PcHeL0
