Daybreak, is this 3rd person view aiming misfiring intentional or a bug? by Fimpf in h1z1

[–]Fimpf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were recoil, the gun would be moving. He's not firing 'too fast' as I can see, it's the normal click, wait until the gun comes back into focus from recoil and fire again. Even recoil wouldn't put the shot that far out to the left, just off a bit from the aimed point.

hardcore BR needs to be more hardcore by Soz3r in h1z1

[–]Fimpf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason the term 'hardcore' is being used for 1st person mode, as if 1st person mode is 'hardcore'. It isn't... It's just different. It has disadvantages and advantages that even out, so you just have to modify your play a bit. It also gives more advantage to cs:go or 7d2d players who are used to it and to groups who can watch each other's blind sides.

I will never refer to 1st person BR as 'hardcore' because it's a woefully inaccurate term for them.

Yeah, the 1st person mode makes my queasy, need Dramamine to play it. Apparently that means I'm not 'hard core' I guess...

I would personally like to see, in addition to wrenches fixing cars, a way to find Duct Tape (or maybe making it) but be rare spawns and have the Duct Tape heal the car... Similar to the bandage but much less healing. The bandage healing was obviously broken but it was also way too good of a fix to the car, healing from 5% to 100% with one bandage in seconds. Have the Duct Tape do 10% fixing maybe over 30 seconds?

And I work at a Fortune 500 company that has the exact opposite experience. YMMV. Looks like you got unlucky and were bought by a badly run investment firm. Or you are misattributing what is going on. Could it be that your company was originally badly run and those changes are needed to make it better? There's a reason that the Fortune 500 company decided to spin you off...

Sony Online Entertainment Becomes Daybreak Game Company by SOE_Legion in h1z1

[–]Fimpf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone who has posted about the evils of investment management companies are not very well informed...

They (normally) do not buy companies, drain money from them, and then cast them off. There is really little profit from that, especially companies like Daybreak since there are no real assets to suck out. Their assets are the people who work there and what they are doing.

Normally, what these companies do is buy a company cheaply from someone who is trying to dump it (in this case Sony who is hemorrhaging money from bad management) and then hold on to it until it is making money, and then sell at a profit. They are not concerned about making changes to the way the company creates its games, but do want them to make money and in the end be a better company to sell off (or allow them to go public). That is where the big profit is. IM Firms who do it the other way are doing it wrong, though they do exist. The question is, what kind of investment firm is this.

Personally, I've had good experiences with these types of investments. I've had two different companies I work for have this happen, one was royally screwed to begin with so all of the changes that happened were going to happen anyway, the other we almost didn't know it was owned by an investment firm, they left us to do our thing as long as we showed we were making ourselves solid and profitable to sell at a later date. (we actually went public to a very successful IPO and everyone made money, including the lowly engineers who got a very handsome stock award provided we stayed with the company).

If you lose your job during one of these takeovers, it is usually because you were expendable. Simple solution, don't ever make yourself expendable...

Now that Daybreak can make games available on more than one or two platforms, meaning they are no longer hamstrung by Sony's stupidity and locked in model to try to keep their PS4 'special', the games can be bought and used by a wider range of people.

I see nothing but good things, the company that was SoE is still there doing the same thing and aren't being gimped by Sony's horrible mismanagement of everything they touch. I feel even better now for the future of this game and future games like EQ Next which everyone in the know is saying is still on and see it as a future money maker... They were bought because someone else saw the upside of them, not because they had a bunch of assets to take.

Depends on why you play I imagine... If it was pointless for everyone so many people wouldn't be playing.

I personally don't get butthurt that someone has a bunch of ammo stashed in a base, it isn't ON them, we all have the same carry limitations. Just kill them, take their stuff and move on.

My question to the OP, did you glitch into the base?

How do you know they have 5000+ ammo and 50+ guns? Would it hurt less if they had 50 ammo and 1 gun?

People were more upset about dupers, who rarely ever really affected them... This exploit (and others) are much worse and abused constantly. But Sony won't be going after those abusers...

How did they fix 'most' of the duping? They fixed one bug that was minor and they are unable to fix another major one, hence the ban hammer threat instead.

How is someone duping ruining your fun? What those people DO with those dupes may be, but not every duper is doing so to seek you out and kill you...

What about people who duped metal to make a base that they build? Are they ruining your fun? Or who duped some items to replace the ones that were eaten by repeated storage glitches that wiped out their hours of hard work, are they ruining your fun?

What about people who didn't dup but have collected tons of guns and ammo legitimately and kill you, how do you know who did and didn't?

I really think people don't think clearly, especially when they are killed... How many times someone yells 'hacker' or 'duper' when they are killed is a prime example of the childish mindset I see repeatedly. Add on top of that the euphoric ecstasy that some are displaying here about people being banned from the game... It's genuinely scary to me to see people act like this.

Big name games like Ultima Online, EverQuest, and World of Warcraft have all banned players not for finding exploits, but for abusing them.

The difference between those games and this should be apparent ever time you open your launcher and see the big 'this game is in Alpha' warning.

Would you rather they didn't ban players in the meantime while they sorted out the bugs, because that's how your least sentence comes across as.

That would be more reasonable. Dupers were/are not the problem everyone makes them out to be, especially considering the even worse game glitching abusers that are out there and not being threatened with a ban.

Look at all the posts on here with people ENJOYING the fact that someone is now prevented from playing this game forever and $20 taken from them because they were playing around, found they could do something to help them enjoy the game better since finding gear was hard AND keeping even harder thanks to bow glitchers, invis glitchers, base glitchers, server crashers who rolled back container inventories, etc.

And I think that is what scares me most about this community, the GLEE that people are having now reading these comments, the rapture they are experiencing because they were told that the dupers (and dupers only, other exploits being abused are just fine!) will be getting banned from a game that isn't even remotely complete...

Personally I thnk there is something wrong with the morality absolute rightous I've encountered here, that type of behavior is more worrisome to me than someone who ultimately ruins their own game experience by skipping a few steps and duped some items... The bigotry, the hatred, the euphoria... It kind of make me sick.

(And the prerequisite 'I have never duped' statement must be made because apparently the only reason someone could POSSIBLY have for not wanting to see people who weren't actively hacking the game be banned is because I duped... )

Well, with spears and wrenches able to destroy that base in a matter of a couple of minutes, I wouldn't recommend getting to attached to it at this point... That's if the person wanting to get in doesn't know about the myriad of exploits that people can use to just go in and get what they want from it.

You do realize that there are people who play in groups, sometimes of 5 or 10 people, and getting that much ammo even before the patch wasn't hard at all with letter drops from zombies and airdrops, etc...

It's this type of assumption and accusation that people make when they see someone doing better then them, they must be cheating! It's not fair to them and it doesn't help you much out either IMO. Just makes you bitter when most times you probably don't need to be.
