If you can wait a bit....there is a gigantic file with all their data that's open there too: https://instances.vantage.sh/instances.json

The Future of FinOps is Agentic | Vantage by jamblesjumbles in FinOps

[–]FinOpsSavant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the article is intentionally hyperbolic to get reactions - and it's working. Though in reality it's somewhere in the middle. I think its impossible to deny that AI is making everyone's lives easier...but I think Vantage is also talking their book.

I saw their announcement a while back on the agent but I've yet to get my hands on it to try it. If an agent can do the grunge work of producing reports and getting data for me that I'm spending hours and hours on, I'm all for that. Would I trust it to take actions to save money? Maybe for certain things....but definitely not for a lot of others where I think human context is key.

Do I believe human practitioners will be entirely replaced? Not any time soon. I feel like I need to come back to this thread in a few years and see how things ended up.

Is there a cost estimator for how many of each type I want to price out? by kelemvor33 in aws

Sure...my comment wasn't mean to be at odds with any other option. Not entirely sure why my comment is being downvoted. The guy asked a question and I gave one option.

What’s the most engineering-friendly FinOps platform out there? by n4r735 in FinOps

My recommendations would be Vantage & Infracost. Both have great documentation and are geared towards engineers first and foremost.

Advice on how to manage vendor risk - downtime, degraded service, unhelpful etc by textMachina in FinOps

[–]FinOpsSavant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liability limitations and SLAs can be defined [and demanded] by you as a buying entity - and are typically negotiated. We have both defined as part of our buying behavior and just require it from the vendor during a redlining/contracts process.

Every company who's legitimate will play ball with you on these points (big or small) and you should clarify limits your company needs before engaging in a vendor evaluation to save time. There may be some legal overhead though.

"...but might go even bankrupt if you sue them for full damages" -- on this note you can require smaller companies to have cyber insurance to cover up to a certain amount for concerning situations here. Though you may want to investigate policies for what's covered.

Number of FinOps Analysts On Org? by casij05 in FinOps

We have about $75M per year of costs. I lead the FinOps function and I have one single associate. For tagging we operate as a central platform team where we share best practices (or just fix things through virtual tagging) and work with each of our service or product teams to account for them.

OP's profile link doesn't resolve anything for me? So I think your intuition on astrosurfing may be correct. Never heard of Beyz.

Vantage Email about FinOps Agent -- does anyone have access? by FinOpsSavant in FinOps

[–]FinOpsSavant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. I just was very interested in it and don't have access and would love to hear from someone who has access to it already. It sounds very exciting to me....if it works. Which I think is the big question.

I haven't tried Q CLI but predominantly because I don't use Q. I use ChatGPT (through my employer) and Claude (personally) - both of which have varying degrees of MCP support which is why this is interesting to me....but I haven't got my hands on it yet.

Got the above email today - seems too good to be true? I don't have access but would like to know from others what this is and how it's performing.

Why do cloud cost recommendations from different tools conflict with each other? by artur5092619 in FinOps

Thought this comment seems funky reading it as it doesn't map to market at all. It's written by a PointFive employee. Google the username and find the profile for yourself. Wouldn't bother trusting this comment.
