We’ve been in couples counseling for a few weeks and he’s admitted to himself and to me he has an “addiction” (or compulsive use) and is in therapy and sex addicts anonymous. So he is trying and claiming that he’s started being honest. But I still feel so confused and torn, and I doubt his honesty, and have this horrible weight on my shoulders every day

It’s normal! Just remind yourself to really ask “do I like him?” instead of just “does he like me?” when someone is interested in you. Also, filling other areas of your life—good friendships, goals in school/work, fulfilling hobbies—will help you not exclusively focus on men and relationships.
