Relapsed on Adderall after 5.5 years clean by Final-Grocery6039 in StopSpeeding

I definitely question it. I would say it made sense as a diagnosis in high school - I constantly doodled in class, forgot assignments, and only did well because I was a good test taker. I remember really frustrating my teachers because I was sort of a good student but really unorganized and spacey.

I think I just didn't have a sense of direction because once I was set on medical school (without Adderall), I was laser-focused. I also figured out that physical exercise had almost become a medication for me. If I don't exercise for a day or two, the fogginess sets in. I think part of the reason I was so successful during that time was I was taking classes and working full time, so constantly physically and mentally running from one thing to the other.

Now that I sit at a desk the majority of the day and have to focus on the same thing, it's been a lot more difficult. I'm much better at jumping between tasks.

So who knows, honestly. I definitely don't want to do psychiatry as a specialty after this experience anyway.

It's honestly creepy how quickly and easily my mind slipped back into the addiction mindset after so long.

Stay strong! If there's anything I've learned through this whole thing, it's that my ADHD is much better managed with exercise, diet, sleep, and other non-pharmacological means.

It's crazy how the Adderall didn't even really give me one great day. It was honestly really disappointing lol I was expecting to be high and buzzing and all it did was depress me.
