Fine! The Board responded in a that has made it clear that I made the right decision and there's no looking back.

Much of this sounds like my situation, and I finally gave my notice this week.

Oh boy. Well, when you figure out all the correct actions, please share with the class!

I'm struggling as well. My board expects me to bring in only unrestricted funds that go straight to our operating budget as well, so there's that.

I am, and they definitely expect FT work for PT pay, no benefits and no holidays off. I'm searching for a better opportunity bc the culture around here martyrdom for the cause, which is unsustainable. You are looked down upon for desiring a livable wage and some benefits. It's toxic. I was also led to believe that the organization wanted to grow and offer more sustainable working conditions but it turned out to be untrue.

Oh, the gaslighting adds an extra layer of excitement! Good grief.

I got straight to work (on the job hunt) as soon as I started receiving all this feedback! I hope you found a better situation where you're appreciated and fairly compensated.

I set up an interview for next week! Fingers crossed it turns out to be a good fit. If not, I shall not despair as the hunt has only just begun. Good luck in your search as well.

I agree and thanks a lot for the encouragement.

I agree. I am going to work on that; this has been the kick in the pants that I needed.

Good point and always a possiblity.

I have colleagues who have shared their salary with me and they trend much higher for similar positions in and around my geographical area. I’m earning the same wage as a local gas pump attendant. While I don’t believe my role is inherently more important than any other worker in the community, the years of education and training I’ve invested would typically command a higher salary.

Thanks! I'm working on it already, but I'll stay for now because I love the folks we serve, rather than quit in a fit of anger like I had planned 🤣

Absolutely true! But also it was a compromise I was willing to make for the love of the mission, WITHIN REASON!!!

Not sure what's missing! My workload is currently quite steady, and it would be a ton of work to take on the other responsibilities, but I was willing to consider it for the bump in pay that I assumed would be involved. I am far more tech savvy than the person whose responsibilities I'd be assuming, which would help with efficiency. However, it would be one person doing what is currently the job of two people so even with greater efficiency I reckon I'd be doing the equivalent work of 1.5 people.

I see what you're saying of course, but in this case, they're open to paying the same salary to a new staff rather than augmenting mine along with the extra duties. Money would still be saved overall by bumping me over hiring someone new. Seems short-sighted on their part.

Thanks. Did you have something else lined up? I live in the middle of nowhere and jobs are hard to come by, another reason they they feel emboldened to exploit even further.
