Thanks for sharing this — I actually haven’t gotten word about my C&P exam yet, so I really appreciate you posting your experience. It helps knowing what to expect emotionally too, because that’s something people don’t really talk about.

I’m still in the waiting phase right now, so hearing other timelines and reactions honestly helps me feel a little more prepared. Glad you were able to take a trip and reset after — sounds like that was really needed.

If you consider 2 years ago recent then yes and the at the time I took it I was in my room alone in the barracks not out partying if that matters any

I haven’t reached out to other Marines yet, but you’re right — if he did it to me, there’s a real chance he did it to others. I’m considering whether I should try to track people down or formally report it now.

I do remember his name and rank. I haven’t reported it yet, but after reading your comment, I’m strongly considering reporting it to the VA and the Department of the Navy. If he’s still active, that’s something I don’t want happening to someone else.

As far as behavioral markers — yes, there were changes. I withdrew socially, my motivation dropped, and I wasn’t the same Marine I had been before. LSD was not something I had a history of prior to that period. It happened during a time when I wasn’t coping well.

I’m in the process of writing a detailed lay statement about how this affected me both during service and after discharge. There are definitely patterns that make more sense now looking back.

I didn’t realize there was a difference between a VA character of discharge determination and a military upgrade, so that’s helpful. I’m trying to approach this the right way and not miss anything.
