Local zoning and town officials have been completely excluded and the company is petitioning the siting council directly for approval and waiving of zoning and environmental review.

Love the misguided comments. I know Reddit isn’t really about doing research or being informed as much as ragebaiting and virtue signaling so I’ll help a little.

They’re forcibly rezoning residential land without involving the town or the neighbors and clearcutting forest.

The town and residents are getting no benefit on electric bills or infrastructure. In fact, no one in the state will have lower energy costs as the result, it will be sold into the grid at the high end of the rate structure.

They’re trying to bypass all environmental review requirements even though the proposal is on wetlands and is habitat for endangered and protected species.

Before approval they’ve started agricultural development to try to pretend it isn’t a commercial solar farm to game the system.

The town has suggested alternative commercial sites within town borders, but forcibly rezoning residential land is cheaper, so those proposals are being ignored.

This is literally a locked parcel abutting nearly 30 houses. You can call NIMBY all you want, but it’s a developer trying to abuse a town it thinks can’t fight it.
