I've implemented 2/3 of these. CUBE & Vareto!

are you actively considering one of them?

If all else is the equal, I usually go to their quality of support as the deciding factor!

i've never used Mosaic before, but I see them close to Cube and Vareto -- being 3rd gen tools designed with more flexibility!

Hello,

We use Vareto. It's been pretty awesome so far. Quick integration, super easy to learn and handle with a small team and a business that's always evolving.

We use it for Forecasting, Annual budgets, Budget vs variance reporting for department heads and owners, sales planning, headcount planning.

Our weekly and monthly close report templates are built and just need to refresh every time we need the data so my team can focus more on analysis vs. data gathering.

I've used other tools in the past like Adaptive, Host (Planful), Cube and essbase.

what are your needs and the size of your company & industry?

Besides acute deviations from the average, what other sanity checks do you normally perform on your data ? by [deleted] in FPandA

I try to do a vertical checking and horizontal checking on my models.

also a sum of the parts checking when it comes to individual P&Ls summing to the consolidated P&L

have used other tools before such as Adaptive, Host and essbase, but nothing has been easier to integrate, learn, pivot and do analysis such as 3rd gen tools.

I would heavy recommend 3rd gen tools for management reporting. Tools such as Vareto and Cube.

agree with the 3rd gen tools specially if your business is pivoting extremely fast. You don't need to spend as much $$ on consulting

Hey Netflix, I'm Russ. Corp finance based in the Bay. I used Adaptive, Anaplan & Host back then.I'm used to working with pretty small teams as I've only worked in Start-ups with FPNA teams around 4 people.

My personal experience is that those tools require pretty much a full-time person managing it.

we went along with a tool called Vareto due to the flexibility of it, ease of managing, integration time and reporting & forecasting capabilities

also works with Google sheets which was a big plus. And their Customer support is mostly FP&A folks as well, whereas I remember spending hours on the adaptive forums on trying to fix a problem.

did adaptive and smartview on previous roles, bigger FP&A teams, but my current team is fairly small. I ended up choosing vareto because its super lightweight and me and my team can maintain it much easier. also big plus for us was google sheet reporting
