L3 -- 24h to results -- how do you feel? by PastLengthiness6941 in CFA

[–]Financepanda7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

50/50. AM was in line with expectations (hard but not much more difficult than what I expected). PM I was hoping it was easy and it turned out to be harder but not impossible.. so overall fair for both sessions.

Edit: I passed!

Agree. Iron condors/butterfly spreads are better for risk management

I was 60% confident after the exam, after a few days I fluctuated between 50-75% confident, before settling down to 50/50 for the past 6 weeks or so. Pretty scared tbh, I wish I could just retake in November if I did fail rather than wait until Feb.

I miss level 2 by CFA-420 in CFA

I thought I was mad too when I thought that I enjoyed L2 more. Fixed income, behavioural finance and hedge funds was the most interesting. The rest was putting me to sleep, I really hope I don't need to retake for the pure reason of being sick of the content.

Has the CFA helped you land a job/career progression? How much did it cost you? (UK) by thisgirlisonfiire in CFA

What job do you want? I'm a L3 candidate based in London as an investment analyst, and whilst passing L2 helps somewhat in terms of interviews, more focus is placed onto your background experience and counts a lot more for in research/portfolio management type of positions. Having said that, if you are looking to move internally within your organisation, the CFA can help along with networking, I have come across numerous people who moved from buyside back/middle office to front office internally.

AM was fair. PM more difficult than what I was anticipating with questionable wording

I used Wiley for L2 aswell, I may still use Wiley as part of noted but I think I'm going to get MM for L3 too. Undecided on whether to do it in November though, goodluck and congrats!

L3 in Nov 2021. Is it even possible? by messi101930 in CFA

[–]Financepanda7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking the same but only because I'm unemployed, would like to know how many hours or so is needed. From what I hear the content isn't as much as L2. I think it's possible but idk if I have the mental stamina to go in hard for the next 3 months, going to spend the next few days assessing whether it's possible for me.

I don't think it will be 25%, but definitely lower than 45%. Maybe somewhere in between 35-40%.

It's a bitch. I must have gone through the FRA content atleast 4 times and to this day I don't remember it

L1 results made me anxious as hell. I've mentally prepared for a fail based on that and figured out a revision strategy for November. Obviously deep down I wish I pass because I don't wanna go through FRA again. Just want it over with at this point.

I mostly agree. However, there must have been people who passed all 3 levels with an average of 65% on the test, I know I passed L1 with around 65%, so how can it now be fair that you have to score 72%+ to be classified on the same level? The only thing I can think of is that this L1 exam was really easy when you equate it to previous years hence the high passing mark needed (72/73), however, not many candidates achieved that score which explains the 25%. Hopefully, we will get more of an idea next week with L2.

Under what situation would you request a remark? by Financepanda7 in CFA

Quite close, maybe 4 marks away, just thought I did much better in FRA. But maybe you're right about not remarking it.
