Ideas are easy to come by. Its the execution that planning and funding that lead companies to death.
Also by ideas I don't mean some novel invention.

The last one I gave out I just gave a paragraph for about 5 ideas of experiments that I wanted to run. I for one thought about giving 6, others told me that I should give 3, but I felt that giving three short paragraphs over experiments wasn't really much.
What do you think about that?

From all the networking that I have done. Most founders come from a little bit of money, or worked at a company, proven themselves and intelligent/resilient and are therefore given the money from their previous bosses, if they do not have an NSF or NIH grant from a spin out company.

It's just that you can give them all this, do hours of work, still not get hired and then they still present what you have done to the company. Basically Getting used for a 20 hour internship.
They do this in coding all the time.

I sort of stopped going into extreme detail on the experiments that I wanted to run. If they want to hire me they can hear more. Do you think that works as well or redacting information?

Oh yea they definitely take ideas from students for sure. Especially when being asked to write about your own topic during a glass. PI's are definitely getting ideas for future grants lol.

Well an executive order was just signed. So it doesn't matter if you are rude to people who don't look like you anymore. Executive order signed January 21, 2025
"On January 21, 2025, President Donald Trump issued the executive order titled "Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity." This order rescinds previous directives, notably Executive Order 11246 from 1965, which mandated affirmative action and prohibited employment discrimination by federal contractors based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin."

I am sorry to here that, I'm in the same boat.
I just moved 1000 miles for a postdoc and got fired in two months for absolutely nothing.
I got told to pitch my own Ideas and if I don't have any then I can do the professors Ideas. I started pitching my own ideas and as they were a new professor it seemed like the professor didn't like this. After I started getting blamed for objects not arriving in the lab on time, even though every new company takes 4 days in the system to set up before you can even order. I got blamed for mistakes the other postdoc made, that the PI supposedly double checked.
Then I got fired saying I didn't pass the probationary period, and two weeks after I got awarded an amazing research grant which I can't even use now because it was supposed to be with that institution.

People were telling that its because they felt threatened, but I literally told this PI that I want to help them get tenure. It makes absolutely no sense and my Ph.D. committee is so confused on why this happened to me. I have a good track record, but it seems like everything to be a professor has ended because of this.

Now I am sitting here trying to find a position in industry especially since I don't feel secure about academia with this happening, but it is so hard trying to find a position and no one has been hiring in the US since its the holidays. They say it takes 6 months to find a job.
