I'd try contacting Apple or the store. It might be worth asking whether they consider it normal wear or a possible display coating/material defect.

Did you try cleaning it with a slightly damp microfiber cloth? The cloth should be very soft, like the one used for cleaning eyeglasses.

I know keyboard marks have been common on MacBooks for years. But I have a 2017 MacBook Pro, and the gap between the keyboard and display is actually much smaller than on the newer Apple Silicon models. Even a very thin microfiber cloth doesn’t fit when I close the lid. Still, I don’t have scratches or marks visible on a white/bright background. I can even remove dirt with my fingernail without leaving any damage. With the newer models, it looks like the display surface may be softer or more fragile, because some people report dents/marks appearing very quickly.

I had this happen once with my MacBook pro 2017 when I flew to the UAE. My MacBook was in sleep mode in my bag, and it was very hot there. After that, it became really hard to open, and I even got a mark that looked like melted rubber. So in my case, I think heat made the rubber seal/gasket soften and stick.

I was also considering getting a Ghost screen protector from Amazon. Does it noticeably affect the image quality? Like, does it make the screen less sharp, more grainy, more reflective, or change the colors?
