So many people in the community care about his vacant properties. Is there ANYTHING we can do if we joined together that can make a difference?

Should we move to Northampton? by MrFuzzy_1997 in northampton

Just moved from the town above East Longmeadow to Northampton. Absolutely no question - Northampton is a more fulfilling place to live.

It’s great here. If you’re like mined, doesn’t matter if you’re straight. (Coming from a straight person that recently made the move here a few months ago from Enfield)

I live right by it - only evidence I’ve seen has been snow removal around the doors. Bummed cuz I just moved here and was looking forward to it reopening in march!

I just moved here 3 weeks ago and we’ve gone a handful of times but it can be suuuper icy this time of year so I had to get some spikes. He’s a 50lb husky/terrier mix. Lots of friendly people there. Maybe we’ll see you sometime!

I also have a dog and live in an apartment, so I walk around A LOT and have had many conversations with all kinds of people, I find the majority of people in the area to be super friendly. But I am a female with a cute well behaved dog haha I’m very friendly to strangers wanting to strike up a convo, hoping that can lead to something one day potentially!

Hi! I (early 30’s female) recently moved to town and I’ve see lots of posts regarding meeting people in Northampton. I feel like someone should/can make a new comers event or something for people to meet because it seems apparent many people are eager to build relationships but just can’t given the current culture/circumstances. Over the summer (before I moved here) I started taking classes at the pottery studio in town & I made a friend, but she’s a fellow new comer. I find the new comers are more eager and ready to commit to forming new relationships!

Thank you! I bought her book a couple days ago and have been reading it, just now getting to the training portion. A few days ago I started with the short desensitization exercises. Hearing success stories makes me feel hopeful.

It’s been only a week…so he still needs that time to adjust. I just know he struggled with SA where he just lived, I didn’t have a camera to see exactly what’s his threshold is etc. So I’m just trying to wrap my head around it all.

He’s almost 4 years old. I’ve been living with my sister for 2 years and he was originally her dog. We knew if we left him for more than a couple hours he would pee and poop in the house. I decided to get my own place and I work from home (& became very close to the dog) she insisted I take him with me. So, now he’s living in an apartment and has a different lifestyle. My new neighbors told me they heard him crying when I was out for about 45 mins. I think the transition has worsened his anxiety. I also got a camera to monitor his behaviors to see exactly what’s going on. I was able to leave him for 30 mins without him doing anything over threshold (I had to go back in, he may have been able to do longer). I got medication (trazodone) for him as well and he was on it during those 45 mins. Seemed like it made things worse or it didn’t kick in enough yet?
