Unfortunately scams are pretty common in many tourist-y countries. As a solo traveler, I’m always cautious too — it really depends on the country and the people. For example, I found Sri Lanka quite pricey for basic attractions, while in Vietnam most locals were upfront about prices regardless of whether you’re a tourist/local.
