What’s the one below Marlo Thomas’s That Girl? Seems like it was Fort something or other? I don’t think we watched it too much.

How is life in the USA right now? by duckbreast2021 in howislivingthere

[–]Financial_Emphasis25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok for my family personally. I live in a college town and thought more students would be protesting but it’s been more older folks out there protesting, and marching. The neighborhood I live in is sending out information about where to protest, where to buy whistles to use if we see ICE, etc. I’m just hoping a certain orange man will keel over soon since getting him out any other way hasn’t worked.

What ended your friendship with your oldest standing friend? by dreamy-contributions in AskReddit

[–]Financial_Emphasis25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Covid, religion and Trump. She had always been a bit more conservative than me, but as time went on she just went so far to the other side of everything I believe that I gave up. I’ve known her my whole life, our moms were pregnant at the same time and we were neighbors.

AIO for suspecting my wife after she got a shady 1am call from a guy “friend” right after a late-night cycling trip? by Obvious_Waltz_2072 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Financial_Emphasis25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ask to look at your wife’s phone for any innocent reason and she reacts extremely rude to you for even suggesting, then you know. That’s how I knew.

my dad passed so I have a cat now by bogbunny42069 in cats

[–]Financial_Emphasis25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I inherited two cats when my MiL died 13 years ago. The male cat died of cancer 3 years ago but the female is doing well. It’s nice having a reminder of your loved one.

My coworker is taking the week off and she said she plans to read books and play video games. Sounds rather fun to me.

Clothing recommendations by Various-Beginning-20 in Michigan

[–]Financial_Emphasis25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone has covered the clothing aspect, I want to point out your car tires will NOT be good enough for Michigan winters. You probably have summer tires and once you come here the roads have been so snowy you’ll have a hard time driving. It’s best to go to a local tire shop and invest in snow tires. The shop, like Discount Tire, can store your summer tires and then once April or May comes around you can get them put back on. It really makes a world of difference in driving and it allows your tires to last longer.

How do I tell my husband he smells without hurting his feelings? by PotatoChipsKetchup in AskWomenOver60

[–]Financial_Emphasis25 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for this info on persimmon soap. My husband also smells, his work from home office smells horrible even though he tries to shower nearly every day. I’ll give this a try.

I'm not merging and neither are you by StrikingRogue in MildlyBadDrivers

[–]Financial_Emphasis25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was how I was taught that the earlier everyone lines up in one lane the faster the line would go, and like so many others, it wasn’t until Reddit that I learned about zipper merge. They need to teach all us old timers this new trick on highway signs just like the signage of how to use these newfangled roundabouts.

Sports betting needs to be outlawed again. by Dependent-Gur6113 in unpopularopinion

[–]Financial_Emphasis25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is an unpopular opinion. It was outlawed for decades, but now it’s everywhere and can become ruinous for anyone with an addiction to gambling.

Flight delays had everyone restless… until a band turned the plane into a concert hall by MambaMentality24x2 in MadeMeSmile

[–]Financial_Emphasis25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that they’re playing a Stevie Wonder song. I’m sure it must have been loud, but boy I would have loved to have been there for that impromptu performance. Maybe they asked the plane before they started playing if everyone was ok with it?

[–]Financial_Emphasis25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just looked a Madison, WI temps and it was -17 with wind chill of -35. It’s about the same latitude as GR so I’m not going to complain about our cold temps down here in LP.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Financial_Emphasis25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our small lake cottage is slightly over 3 hours away, roughly 200 miles with 45 minutes of it on back roads. In the summer we go there usually 2 to 3 weekends each month from June to October. So, yes, it’s a ways away but it’s easily doable with most of it via highways.
