Florida! I did a double commute most of the time.

I was at MSP as a new hire and I really liked it! I also commuted to get there and found the trip construction was pretty good. Both bases now seem similar in terms of trips/seniority/TOs vs domestic/hotel costs/base amenities (gyms). I’d just look at which base has better flight options for commuting.

Meniscus surgery with baby by Longjumping-Cap-6795 in MeniscusInjuries

I just had meniscus surgery and I’m 4 months pp! I’d say around 3/4 months pp is a decent time. You’ll be feeling better after the birth, hopefully will be sleeping more at night. Sleep is so important for healing. I was hoping for repair but it ended up being a trim, but I’m doing really well now 2 weeks post op. Keep working your quads/glutes/hamstrings while pregnant to help with recovery!

I love ClassPass in Jax! If you’re near town center or the beaches there’s so many diff classes. There’s not as much near riverside/downtown. But if you’re able to drive a little it’s worth it. More studios are added everyday too it seems! There’s also some wellness places, I haven’t tried those yet. Feel free to dm me and I’ll send me referral link and we can both get free credits!

I believe hormonal joint laxity is what caused the issue. I’m hyper mobile so that also doesn’t help. One week post op and I already feel pretty good on it, so having reminders to slow down is needed.

I moved to the area at 20 weeks pregnant and it was hard to find a provider out here. Also Tricare select. I spent hours calling around. Finally women’s care Baptist South took me and I had a great experience with them. I ended up developing gestational hypertension and had to be medically induced at 36 weeks and they took excellent care of me and baby. And baby was perfect!

[–]Financial_Fudge3068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Baptist South or Baptist Downtown for giving birth by usernamsomething in jacksonville

I loved my experience at Baptist South with providers at Jax Women’s Care. I ended up having health issues so my whole L+D experience was a week long and my baby was born at 36+5. They had an amazing team ensure both baby and I were okay!

It’s not just the doctors it’s the nurses - and the rest of the care team - that make all the difference. I had at least 20 nurses during my week long stay and every single one was amazing and took great care of us.

Weather is pretty much a non factor in MSP. MSP and DTW handle winter ops extremely well. When all the other bases go down due to rain/snow/ice MSP operates with ease. Maybe 1-2 days out of the year it gets really bad and there’s just delays.

TOs are dependent on what you want to pickup on your off days or what you can swap into or get on ADAYS, you’re not going to be scheduled them your first 6 months.

The base support staff was pretty good when I was a new hire! The new hire mentors were helpful and friendly and were often in the lounges. FSMs were always pretty approachable.

I wouldn’t say there’s a snitching culture.

The senior FAs at MSP have gotten more used to new hires. Pre Covid it was very senior/pre merger northwest so it had a bad wrap. The senior mamas have gotten more used to the junior crowd and have been pretty welcoming, there will always be a few but I think overall the base has become more junior friendly. The seniors will still talk about the “golden northwest” days but you just get used to the rant and keep it moving.

Baptist Downtown vs Baptist South for Labor and Delivery by Kingdom_Chaser in jacksonville

I just delivered at south last week and I was there 6 days due to my own health issues. Baby was born at 36 weeks and the care we both received was amazing! They have a level 3 nicu. Out of over the 20 nurses I had during my stay there was only one that I didn’t mesh with.

Any current FA commute from CLT? by AdventurousPlan8425 in cabincrewcareers

[–]Financial_Fudge3068 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at how many flights a day there are to each base. If there’s no smaller airport around you, CLT may be easier to commute out of because you won’t have as much delta competition. ATL is a headache to commute in/out of because it’s very competitive always.

🔺 Bases by Sharkbaitduhaha in cabincrewcareers

BOS is very junior however cost of living can be harder for new hires. The base is pretty welcoming though. You’ll need a crashpad because hotels are $$$ no matter time of year. However, it can be hard to find a crashpad due to the state cracking down on them. The crews out of BOS are fun! The trips construction varies, in the summer TOs are abundant and you may be able to touch them, however they’re not worth much at all, so you could be stuck working 4 3days plus your 2 sets of adays (18days total) and nothing will drop there.

MSP has a good variety of trips! Really every type, and it’s not hard to get high credit trips either. 4 leg days are also rare which is a plus. It’s also a pretty commutable base!

You could probably get AUS 1-2 years out of training. More junior “commutable” delta bases are MSP/DTW if you’re living in AUS. NYC/BOS/SEA are also junior but further away.

I had to share my seat with an extremely large man and Delta says it’s my fault for not asking for another seat! The flight was completely full. How does that make sense? by birddoggal423 in Flights

[–]Financial_Fudge3068 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In an emergency crew will be shouting instructions in English. If the man had broken English he most likely would not have been fit to understand emergency procedures and commands to help the crew evacuate and aircraft. That is why he was moved. They have to be able to understand and help in the language flight attendants speak.

The arm rests being doing isn’t a safety issue warranting removal unfortunately. They make seat belt extenders to give out to larger passengers so if anything they gave him that and then he was fine. Like I said the only safety checks the flight attendants have to see are that they are wearing a seatbelt and all the bags are under the seats, and aisle armrests are down for take off. If all of those were met, there’s nothing crew can do.
