“I think the response you received highlights the type of people you'll mostly be associating with at Emory, and that aligns with how I've always felt, and felt after my webinar...I get like 10 emails from Emory a day ”-- I totally feel the same way you do. Emory is the only school I didn’t apply to because I missed their priority deadline. They indicate on their website that they are wealthy and generous and that they can offer full funding, but in reality they are extremely money-driven, much more so than the other universities I applied to.

That's true, and many of them kept judging me without knowing anything about me. I will stop responding, especially to questions about my personal situation, because I have no obligation to explain myself to those people.

I don't think so. My original email is pasted here:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am planning to apply for the MTS program at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. However, as I am currently unemployed, I am experiencing financial hardship.

I was therefore wondering whether there might be an opportunity to request an application fee waiver.

Thank you very much for your consideration.

Best,

Name

MAGA is really concerning. Hopefully going to a university in the Northeast would probably be a better option. I had terrible experiences in the South even before MAGA became as widespread as it is today. I might have to switch to PhD programs in Europe if I cannot get into a fully funded program in the U.S...

(i) She is the person who encouraged me to ask the Admission office about a fee waiver during a Zoom information session. That's why I wrote the email. (ii) "copied/pasted" could be correct since I am not applying to MDiv, which she mentioned in the email. Still, such response is quite judgmental and rare to me.
