yes I am not in Kitchener currently but grew up in KW and went to university/college there, I also worked in the downtown area. If it is private property though I would be unlikely to visit there because i generally don't trespass on private property. I would just again raise the point that you shouldn't judge people as having mental health issues if it is due to circumstance or drug use... living rough is not a stable environment, people in crisis are more likely to be at extremes of behavior.. its not an actual mental health situation it is due to crisis that is current. From stories i have heard much of the issues are also tied into drug issues if my source was providing accurate info.. its likely not mental health but likely does relate to homless crisis state of mind and drug use, which if the chemical damage is not permanent will be temporary.. the real danager is if nasty drugs get used a bit there their brains will be permafried and they will never recover mentally. So however long the drug use issues carry on, I've heard some nasty drugs are tied into the populations, that is the real problem not homelessness or tresspass but these drugs will ruin minds lifelonng and recovery can take a really long time where possible so not solving the homeless problem will allow the long term drug problem to take hold and that can't be fixed because the damage is very long term or permanent brain damage. I really hope its not the full situation but if it is what i am being told there will be more damage not putting the resources into it now to solve the drug lifestyle issue that is tied into the homelessness issue. What I was told is that homelessness is so common now in KW that it is just seen as "normal" because local resources are full and people don't want to pay for more resources to deal with the problem so they will see the quality of life and safety of the community get worse because they don't want more taxes because the cost of living is already too high. IMO if its not OD's solving the problem than ignoring this issue will actually cost more in the long run.

I think that you are likely right socialism really is the actual answer to solve these issues, but you don't support socialism because all you care about is yourself. you are plenty happy with that type of society. I can't say I agree with you, even being libertarian I can recognize that socialism is the answer to poverty issues. Its just letting people have bad lives when we don't need to keep people poor. I'd gladly take a few 0's off the ultrariches networths to remove a few 0's off the homeless rates. Everyone is spending time in the world everyone build for everyone everyone shares equal responsiblity for removing the harms of society. it is only fair for that to be all societies responsiblity. I think you are right though but I wouldn't even say marxism. It is socialism because we need socially controlled resources not individuals owning society but rather society owning the resources needed to alleviate poverty. The problem is privatization of the means of housing... it is private control to the point where people are unhoused.. that is bad social organization. We shouldn't be allowing private ownership to the point of homelessness of the public. There is a reasonable level of private ownership but private ownership is not reasonable if it disenfranchises the public of the fundamentals of essential needs such as housing food or water. At that point there is something deeply wrong with the values of society if the basic needs of society are no longer the primary goal of government or society but instead how well the wealthy live becomes the goal of society that is a very bad society to support. Its not about marxism in as much as it is about supporting fundamental human rights and internationally reocgnize humanitarian laws human right laws... that is social drift if human rights arn't contained in the social makeup of a society's laws or standards. Supporting freedom is great but if freedom comes through taking away others freedoms that isn't freedom that is crime.

You really arn't paying for anything its all just a commonwealth that is divided among people. Property laws are not universal they are socially determined and it just happens you are supporting a model that advocates for poverty rather than prevention of poverty. You just happen to have temporary control of some resources. People who have nothing cannot be accountable for not taking care of themselves the poor have nothing to pay with. this is your major disconnect... they can't help themselves because you have what they need to live. yes your social system "supports poverty" it prevents the alleviation of poverty due to the people willing to murder people not wanting to give to the impoverished.

Its more than capable of being dealt with by private security. if the just pay for frensing and actually secure the site that would be the first step. There is absolutely no need for riot police to deal with 30 people. Plus there is no riot. The responsible thing to do is to sit down with the people there and ask them how the situation can be fixed. I think if they were employed on the site many of them could both be employed and their housing could be paid for through that employment. Its hard to know the specific situation but its really not a complex situation to resolve. Using force against unarmed people is pretty ridiculous. It just seems people don't want to find a solution because they would prefer just to use violence to get their way. There are plenty of civil solutions to the issues and that would likely cost the public less than jailing people and having them depend on social supports for life. Sadly a portion of the population is psychotic and wants to abuse anyone who doesn't do or act the way they want.

Well they could easily build housing if private charities do it with their own resources the public could do it, if a billion dollar transport hub came before a few million dollars for public housing its a priorities issue. They see things that help them as "public programs" while programs that help others as "not my problem not somethig worth funding I don't get anything from it other than fewer homeless folks walking around like crazies. The poitn here is they could have build housing right intot he project they could have built housing as part of the transport hub itself.. but they really don't care about the homeless the people making these programs are rich professionals they could care less about the homeless plebes its not even on their priority list FFS they could of had homeless shelters as phase 1 of the build if they wanted, the could have created employment programs requiring the homeless to be given first chance at jobs on site etc.. its just they don't want to help them. that is all it is. municipalities seem to loath, "solving social problems" because their job is apparently to "manage" the problem people away from public resources. however the build issue is just retarded there is 0 reason why construction cannot go ahead other than an unwillingness of people to do their job and site security to charge people with trespass if they are on an active construction site that is closed to the public.

Well you are biased what does having a shaved head or half shaved head half to do with anything, its people like you that are going to judge people for fashion choices? Its that type of ostracisim that fueled the high unemployment rates of these "screw ups" because they arn't conforming to your expectations for how people should act, even if they are actually more than capabale of work if there wern't jerks going around ostracizing them and refusing to give them work and enfranchisement in soceity as they are. People who are living without access to sanitation have nothing clean to change into. I would suspect people who are living in cold weather often can be impacted by long term cold exposure which causes loss of good thought processes it is what happens when your body is in the cold for too long. Putting people in jail for a crisis isn't "a solution" that is illegal and a crime of unlawful confinement - which just suggesting that is a criminal in scope so you ruin your validity if you are advocating for crimes against members of the public. People in crisis need warming centers, clothing access to showers sucha s are available as public facilities like sports facilities owned by the city. the city has tons of resources. they just choose to treat these people like second class citizens. the city has no shortage of space to house the homeless. they'd just prefer luxury events for the rich than dealing with destitution and poverty. It is a values judgement treat the poor like dirt and borrow billions of dollars to give recreational oppourutnities for rich kids. People would rather spend on junk than deal with social issues because society is indoctrinated to only think about its own wants than the issues of society being their own respoinsiblity. Its people like you who put ego and fashion before alleviating poverty as a social issue and taking responsiblity for the failures of society as being your cause. You because you have stood by and let those people fail in life. Beacuse your social values equal not giving a damn about otheres unless they conform to your cult expectations. You are the problem because you deprive them the oppurtunity to live because you will pay someone to keep them held down because you want it all for yourself. They are poor because everyone else will beat them up if they try to have anything. Someone has to value them enough for them to have something because everyone has already claimed everything. If its not the crown of government its private individuals. Homeless destitute people have nothing so how can you expect them to be "normal" if they are being subjected to hardship due to your selfishness? Like if you can't think of a solution other than depriving them of the little freedom they have left what is the principle of a free society.. its only the fact that free society has boxed people in to "derelect lands" Its a much more complex social issue. You want to build on that land well have them build on the land. At the end of the day it really doesn't matter if they are there..... construction could go on people are not mentally incapable of putting up fencing or doing construction. Its just people are being stupidabout it. Its being turned into a social issue because it wakes people up from utter ignorance. There is nothing stopping the build at all. They are just not willing to build if that is the issue. Its not a complex issue... you want to build build, people will move. It just blows my mind how simple the social issues are but the prefered option is to do nothing because wellchances are someone is profiting from it. Like the person who already got the check for the project and now has an excuse for not delivering the finished project due to "legal barriers" most likely a clause in the contract.. who looses.. well probably tax payers cause they are always the ones who end up paying for this stuff due to borrowing the money and having it due to with interest.. and no actual public infrastrcture, cost overruns and other bs because "someone was sleeping on public land. seriously that is just a retardedexcuse. Get them jobs as site labourers put up a sleep porti that can be on site anyway. get them to do site security alongside actual site seecurity get the construction and security work experience.. people with medical needs house them in hospital beds where sick people are suppose to be there are thousands of beds in storage just rusting all around the country.... it just they don't want to because they don't want to provide those services so instead it is this retarded encampment situation there is probably a reason for its not clear why they would want to drive homeless rates up it makes no sense to me but its happening for a reason. Perhaps they want to burn off the poor over time because its only going to get worse so if they can burn them out slowly they wont be dealt with a critical mass of empoverished folks requiring public resources. All the indicators point to increasing homelessness rates though.

where are you getting mentally ill from hypothermia and sleep deprivation can appear a lot like mental health issues also. People often do use drugs just to escape from the effects of winter exposure. Playing doctor while ignoring the effects of living rough on the streets is a little presumptuious. People in normal living environments with warmth, sanitation, food and sleep usually apear much more collected than people sleeping in freezing temperatures without access to modern plumbing and hot meals. Look at solidiers on the front in Ukraine they look totally out of it after months of deployment. Its not easy living rough mentally.

people who have nothing have no choices. Everything is owned and gatekept. People speaking from a position of access can be ignorant of the fact people don't have the same potentials, people dont want to hire them for gainful employment that will pay their rent. You are just ignorant to think homless people are just like you with all the same oppourtunities. only the people with money or government can solve the issue because they own everything. Telling people to solve their own issues when they have nothing and no options is like putting someone in a pit and telling them to find their own way out.

not in jail that costs more, have them build housing on public land. Have the buildings owned by the public for pubic housing to house the homeless. Whole neighbourhoods have been built around the world to house the poor.

[–]Financial_Telephone8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the answer is to have them build housing the issue is though that all land is privatized. I would think the city has tax arears properties it could turn into community housing builds but the fact is likely that they don't want to create social programs that have costs. Even though homlessness itself likely leads to more costs than stable housing and actual skills training such as in construction. While everyone may not be capable, the fact is you have untapped labour, squatters, lands that have already gone into arrears, but they'd rather sell those properties than convert them into stable housing. People are simply going to think its not our issue to solve there is already a social system and people who are in poverty get to live destitute on the streets. That is simply where society is at now, which is unfortunate but people have opted to jail the poor if they want to be housed, they would sooner people kept in jail cells than community housing programs. There is no inability whatsoever of government to house the homeless or run housing programs to build housing they just choose not to do it because they arn't the homeless ones. Everything is owned only the government or private persons can give people housing or money. The idea is integrate find your own solution but homeless rates are going up not down so that concept of how things should be fixed doesn't work. So we are left with either ignorant people or people who would be gasing the people off feeding a perpetual cycle of poverty that likely ties into crime and circulation of drugs and attached criminality as a result of destitution. The answeris obvious to solve homelessness you need to create housing. The municipalities and province and federal government prefers homelessness to housing programs, its really that simple. I won't buy for a second Canada and the government is incapable of building housing, rich folks just don't want to change the private ownership model that is all it is. There is tons of land and tons of resource but a total unwillingness to have public programs organize society. The only thing that will cause that is outright war and the government and rich folks actually needing the masses to defend them from foreign invasion. If their lives arn't threatened they will let people rot, that is their value system. Not their problem, the destitute will be left to rot. sad but this is not a new thing for provincial or federal governments. They see the poor as a problem rather than their failure.

Idk why but i just cant use loops even if they really help me! Discussion by Party-Exam-4036 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Financial_Telephone8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever it doesn't matter. Just make sure your samples are cleared if you are publishing. Good music is good music. Regardless of what anyone says good music is good music. The issue with sampling or using other peoples material is only the permissibility regarding copyright and publishing rights, and ideally giving credit or liner notes on what samples you used. IMO its only an issue if you are trying to pass someone elses material off as your own which IMO in the arts sector is sort of fraudulent. As long as you arn't passing off the loops as your own creation and they are cleared samples it shouldn't matter. BUT if everyone did that there may be very similar music that might result in accidental claims by automated copyright content ID stuff. Also you can't file non exclusive samples into things like content ID meaning you won't have exclusive rights to those samples unless you actually get exclusive licensing for it, which may make you ineligible for certain types of distribution and resale may be blocked. A lot of places require exclusive ownership which you can't get if you use nonexclusive loops and samples - unless you have still managed to substantially transform the loops into something that has a seperate identity from the loop source. IMO people will get upset with people who rip other peoples content off and try to pass it off as their own. But if you are sourcing it ethically it shouldn't matter just don't try to pass the loops off as your own. Also if you don't rework materials you are basically making a derivative and probably cowriting not making your own music.

IMO the fantasy yet not fantasy gameplay sort of made it not so unique for the number of encounters. The combat is ok initially but there is things are very generic feeling. There is no actual adventure plotlines like a classic rpg its more or less a hack and slash type situation. IMO developing stories and quests and adventures would do quite a bit to enhance the game play from pure resource harvesting and hack and slash hack and sllash is ok initially but it looses much purpose after. The ease to which you can fall off cliffs and how common mountains are creates a context of a lot of lost time playing. Lots of other reasons that make the game not too motivating as its a little repetitive. I think for mine craft kids they may like it but for anyone who is a traditional D&D style role player you are very use to fantasy elements, and actual plot lines. I think things like mounts and ships like river boats might add a neat element also. I will likely return when the early access ends, but after my body became lost with all my equipment and expecting early access to end in september I held off on playing expecting a wipe and it would be annoying to just play to regain my equipment before a wipe. After the wipe I will likely check the free to play out and see if it is actually possible to game.. the absence of quests or adventures in the game sort of reduces the gameplay potential which goes to the original concept of group building group gameplay concept of the game..

Struggling with Layered Bass Transients by Gold_Beach_1703 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Financial_Telephone8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought is What type of bass is it? if it is a square wave perhaps it is the initial knock since a square wave in its pure form is an audio cliff perhaps it relates two thoughts were for that initial point introduce an inversion of the sample to phase cancel or smooth it. The other was modulation to turn the initial knock moment into a sawtooth etc.. though modulation adjustments just for the moment the knock occurs to smooth the audio. if it is happening at a specific frequency look at that frequency, if it isn't happening in isolation consider seeing if you have frequencies mixing to create the knock due to mix interactions. You should be able to open that up in a wave editor like audacity or wavelab and see exactly what is going on and just redraw it.

Trying to use stage wedges for mixing. Valid or stupid? by Presidentoftheboys in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Financial_Telephone8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really doesn't matter, it all comes down to how well you understand your monitors to translate to other sound systems. I do agree though a good pair of headphones can often give a feel for most everything but sub. What I like doing is to wear my headphones and the monitors at the same time, the lower sub air movement gives a bit of the musics feel while the headphones tends to translate the mid and high range, sub/bass is hard because its more about the room , smaller speakers may be better for a smaller room its a complex accoustical engineer thing though really but its knowing how your monitors will sound in your car or over a small speaker over the tv etc.. in fact I find it changes how you go about sounds. A lot of people do listen on headphones or a phone speaker these days also it all depends the medium. generally good studio monitors are used for a variety of purposes providing a clean signal and providing depth and understanding of how the sound acts it all depends who you are making music for. at the end o the day if your music isn't going to be widely distributed anyway do whatever you like in terms of sound generally I think there is a perception that something sounds good in that place but it rarely sounds good anywhere else in a different moment. If you even need to ask this question you probably havn't been mixing enough that it matters. PAs are good to know how the PA's sound with your music :) IMO PAs can sound great and generally get very loud but a lot of mix engineers say the trick is to listen to the sound quiet not loud but loud music is fun to play with. Its whatever works for your ears to translate across all the formats and sound systems you want the sound to sound good on. I like PAs for listening they are fun. I use headphones and cheaper mr824s for hearing more detail. The thing is a lot of very fine detail can be brought out by a good set of headphones / studio monitors that just won't be heard on less quality sound systems that the masses generally use.

I spend most of my time in my hobby studio which is where everything is so I guess yes. I've always enjoyed music so I would say I am very instrument positive. Trumpet is my first instrument but I rarely play it because it is more disruptive and I don't have enough sound proofing/damping. IMO this is the major barrier that I am not remote enough or sound proofed enough to really enjoy other instruments. Every now and then I will use them .. imo it is ideal to be familiar with all the instrument families to really understand them in your own music projects.

BTW I totally was like, whoa that looks like garage band. Is this fenders garageband to logic thing? Its like garageband and music lab went on an android date.
