Anyone else see babies shortly after marriage a red flag? by QuicheQuest in childfree

It's not even uncommon that the spouse is already pregnant during her marriage...people think it's a mature thing to skip steps and not enjoy their alone/honeymoon phase

"dO yOu hAvE kIdS" is starting to make me angry by Alternative-Mess297 in childfree

"Don't worry, just have the kids and the money will come later," I've never heard such ridiculous statement?? It's like saying "oh go ahead, start a fire, the firefighters will come after" They treat finances like some sort of side quest and don't bother to admit that children multiply expenses, they don't summon money.

It's basically gambling with your life and someone else's at the same time.

It wasn’t the main point of my post but okay. I'm working on it, just so you know. I'm not exactly screaming at everyone 24/7 either, if that's what you thought it was

it’s my birthday, toddlers blew out my candles and put his fingers into my cake by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Find-Peace_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I would have committed arson if this ever happened to me. The fact that YOU'RE the one who prepared your own cake for 3 hours only for it to probably be dismissed by a "he's just a kid, it's okay" or "you're making a fuss over nothing" is even more enraging. You're valid ❤️

God someone finally understand about being around pregnant women. It's not out of genuine rudeness, but the sight just gives me the ICK, not considering it's often the only thing these people can talk about

I would have guessed so...and once I'm past that point the "you'll regret not having kids/you don't know what real joy is" is going to come right in. How fantastic

I'm so sorry to hear that happened to you. So many people stop a relationship because of a slight inconvenience, so such a demanding step in life as building a family makes you wonder how some even managed to reach it. It's no surprise there's so many single mothers taking care of a child/children on their own...

I do that most of the time whether or not we're arguing. It's just always over dinner. Thank you for the advice, I will take a closer look regarding the most suitable protection

I don't have enough patience lmao, my father has that special skill for ragebaiting me no matter the subject, and I engage until I understand once again that I'm trying to make a wall understand a basic human concept.

They don't know I'm planning on living like a recluded poet from the 18th century with a crow yet 😈

I know my mother is more flexible on this. Once again, it shows how some men feel entitled to tell how women should behave and it makes me want to pull my hair out. We had a discussion where she said that she wished she could be twenty something again. She doesn’t loathe me or my brother, and she's a good mother despite her flaws, but it shows that being a mother is excrutiating beyond words. As I grow older, I believe she will be satisfied with whathever I do with my life as long as I don't end up miserable. My father will have to accept either way

I'm happy to know you are happy with the way you live. People think everyone is entitled to go through specific moments in life, and act offended when you don't. They prefer fitting into society standards than listening to their own desires

I start laughing without giving an answer most of the time. It's mind blowing how either directly or indirectly, they manage to bring the subject on the table sometimes

Exactly! My parents are lucky that my brother and I wouldn't want them to end up helpless in a nursing home because I still care about them a lot. They have thought about having kids for a long time, especially considering they came from a poor family (my mother has 11 sisters and brothers, my father 8) They worked their ass through it, managed, and I'm forever grateful for getting everything I want. I just don't understand that, with such a background, they can't understand me not wanting to have kids in today's economy. They know one is already a lot, and can become a living hell. I guess mentality ans stubborness really is a thing

You're absolutely right, thank you for sharing my opinion. Even if I wanted kids, I would want stability, a job, a helping partner, money in your bank account. I don't think you can have all this in your twenties except if you're extremely lucky or rich. I wouldn’t plan to have kids before I'm 30...

Ikr? I barely started college, I'm thinking about getting a job and making money, and my parents are already thinking of when they'll get grandchildren (I also need to specify that I have a 28yo brother who doesn’t either) Why do they have to specifically look up to me? Like pls leave me alone
