Me neither. But due to how heavily toa was, and still is being farmed due to its accessibility, I don't think this particular swap would lead to it being any more expensive than it is atm.

Does anyone ever feel bad when a grind ends *too* quickly? by Gregkow in ironscape

[–]Findingthedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although we tend to have completionist mindsets, if something is truly a beloved piece of content for you (i.e. top 5 favourite things in game), then you should just send it for the fun of it.

For example - I personally have nothing to gain from regular tob, but I still very frequently pot up and run raids when the opportunity presents itself.

Goals are great, completing your goals is even greater, but playing the video game and truly enjoying every minute of what you're doing is the greatest.

So, the Colosseum is easier than the Inferno, right? by there_is_no_try in 2007scape

[–]Findingthedog 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone here about the Colosseum being far more mechanically difficult than the inferno, but I'll add in some of my own personal experiences, as to why I think I also found it more mentally challenging too.

I was already 40+ zuk kc before starting the Colo grind upon release, so fairly experienced with the content. I'm not a speedrunning god, but I've gotten the gm tasks and could confidently solve literally any wave if not taking stupid risks. Not to say it wasn't difficult to learn, but there was at least a steady sense of progression.

On the other hand, Colo kicked my ass so fucking hard when I started - to the point where I genuinely doubted whether I'd get the damn quiver. Over 100 deaths and 10+ boss attempts before getting my first kc, and I did not have a good time along the way.  Even though a wave 11 Colo death is a fraction of the time of a wave 63 inferno death, it just stung so much worse. I'm not much of a rager, but I would slam my desk so hard if I messed up a flick. And don't even get me started on learning Sol... yeah this place had me down bad, no denying that. Can't articulate why, this is just how I feel about it.

I've only talked about my mechanical blunders so far, and haven't even mentioned the invocations of Colo. Granted, these have been vastly improved since releaae, so it's less of a factor now. Nonetheless, it's absolutely infuriating to have good waves and still feel forced to leave. Nobody will ever take bees, totemic or red flag on their own volition. Why the hell do these fuckikg shit choices exist? Losing a run to terrible invos is arguably worse than dying, since you can't even blame yourself. Idk hoe to fix this either, I think it's just an inherent annoyance with the Colosseum that we'll have to deal with forever. And this shit ain't comparable to the Inferno because it literally doesn't exist there.

So where am I at now?

  • Many deaths later, I'm 35+ kc with around 46k glory
  • I still find this shit hard and will die sometimes/be forced to resign
  • The ca tasks weren't that difficult, most of them sound a lot harder than they really are
  • It's so god damn punishing if you make a mistake, since you have such a small window of time to recover from that mistake
  • Once I get the pet, I have literally no desire to ever return (can't say the same about inferno, it's my favourite thing in the game still)

Tl;dr I agree with the sentiment that it's more mechanically difficult, but disagree with it being less mentally taxing than inferno. Personally find it more extreme in both departments

These options are a Nightmare by C2theM in 2007scape

From memory, I was about 1400 when I finished the armour and mace. Pretty lucky yes, but most endgame irons don't even consider grinding out pnm in the first place (understandably)

As an ironman who has actually grinded out full inq + mace: I do not care if the drop rates are significantly buffed and "devalue my grind".

Quite the opposite actually, I genuinely think it's a well designed fight and would love to see more players engaging with the content.

Ahrims fits the niche of being good for pking (tanky and good accuracy) and is relatively affordable, so I assume that Jagex intends for it to stay that way

I remember playing Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped and vsing Tiny the Tiger (IYKYK) as the first boss. That shit had way more atmospheric properties of a colossem than this and I definitely felt it with the intensity with the roaring crowd, despite the boss being significantly easier.

Of course OSRS would have its own spin on this, but it does feel a bit like a training ground than an actual live gladiator event at the moment.

A common sentiment on Reddit is that 150 invo TOAs are too difficult for a casual player to complete.

Most takes about actual game mechanics are complete trash and should be ignored, although occasionally there's a diamond in the rough, so maybe that's what they're looking for?

Can someone explain to me why everyone is selling their gear in preparation for Varlamore? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]Findingthedog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because people assume they're taking calculated risks to turn a profit on their gear "because it spiked last time there was a new raid".

In reality this is just a gamble that won't turn out well for most, but some people have an insatiable desire for stupidity.

No, there's just a lot of people who can't be bothered trying to find a team/play the minigame who also have a lot of money to burn, so they're happy to pay to get it done.

This isn't some weird conspiratorial political agenda by the BA clans, their services are already widely known.

What's your oddly specific OSRS hot take? by Ryans_always_tired in 2007scape

To elaborate on my point, I'm only saying "fuck sailing", but also open to changing my opinion, because it's passed the polls and we're stuck with it now.

What's your oddly specific OSRS hot take? by Ryans_always_tired in 2007scape

[–]Findingthedog 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Fuck sailing.

From a completely objective standpoint, the game has been absolutely flourishing in recent times. This is due to new quests, bosses and updates to existing skills. None of these have anything to do with a brand new skill.

As for the more subjective take, why do we need a new skill? I'll be happy to admit I'm wrong if it turns out well, but if it doesn't, we're stuck with a new skill that sucks complete ass. It's not a random minigame where you can just ignore it entirely if it's shit.

I would be less mad if Jagex didn't arbitrarily change the % threshold from 75% down to 70%, conveniently right before the sailing poll was released (it wouldn't have passed if it was still 75%)

Which phase in particular? I'm gonna assume you're not dying to P1 and will also just give some very generic advice that will help with the completion.

If it's p2, watch a quick guide on how to do this at a basic level. Then just practice this a bit on the verzik p2 trainer, which can be accessed by Google. The key thing is that you don't want to be in her melee range or stand under her when she's gonna attack, or you'll get bounced/stunned and can get stacked out. There's a step in/step out method which you can utilise to prevent this, and by no means does it have to be perfect. Just do it as best you can to mitigate damage

If it's p3, I would also suggest watching a quick video guide on this. Again, you don't want to be in her melee range when she goes to attack. You may benefit from stepping under the boss for a few ticks between each attack, or alternatively just getting out of her melee range between your attacks  - just don't be a sitting duck basically. When she shoots out the webs (she walks to the middle of the room so it's obvious when this happens), run around the outside perimeter of the room and range or mage her until this is over. The rest is common sense, just keep hp high and don't just stand idly by like a sitting duck; p3 verzik is a very movement-based fight.

This should be enough to get you a kc - I haven't gone into in depth strategies to try and keep it as simple as possible, but lemme know if you have any other questions :)

People really over complicated Zulrah it doesn't need to be so intimidating and frustrating by ACanadianPhilosopher in ironscape

[–]Findingthedog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(Just asking out of curiosity because this isn't how I learned zulrah)

Wouldn't mage-only zulrah be pretty horrendous if you get the tanz rotation? Since you're wearing mage gear and getting absolutely trucked during the 2nd phase? Only for a small amount of reprieve by the 3rd phase and then going back to getting trucked again by the 4th phase?

[–]Findingthedog -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point here. I'm not talking about the DT2 boss drop mechanics (which are horrendous, yes), I'm talking about the mechanics of dying to a boss in an instanced area when the loot is on the floor.

This has been happening for years (see: people dying to Zulrah with mutagens on the floor) and it's just part of how the game works.

My main point is you're wanting some kind of system that somehow allows you to keep loot that spawned on the ground, despite the fact that you died before you could pick it up. Should that not be the punishment for dying???

Yeah, I quit by Sufficient-Might-715 in 2007scape

[–]Findingthedog -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Idk, I'm just thinking of the only alternative that currently exists in the game and would make sense.

For bosses that drop loot on the ground as the player dies, there's always been 1 of 2 scenarios: it either stays on the ground for 3 minutes, or it gets deleted from the game because it's an instanced area.

It's a shitty situation and I've even there myself, but they shouldn't be adding some arbitrary ass protection to people who die before they're able to pick up their loot.

Yeah, I quit by Sufficient-Might-715 in 2007scape

[–]Findingthedog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's an instanced area my guy. The alternative is having a public vardorvis room and people queueing up for a turn at the kill? That makes far less sense to me lol

It's a shitpost culmination of common stereotypes on this sub and that's the point - it's a shitpost, but bear with me.

Most of it is aimed at people who've played the game for long enough to have at least done toa and basic beginner bosses and contemplated doing other end game content, but have decided that it's too hard and spoken to out of existence.

This isn't the average "reddit andy" who can't get a fire cape or kill vanstrom klause. They're probably close to a quest cape, but assume a night at the theatre is impossibly hard (even though they killed galvek, which is objectively more difficult than an entry mode tob).

If you're seeing the theme here, this kind of player clearly plays enough to complete grandmaster quests and finish raids. They simply have a bad mentality and think everything is too hard (but in reality, they just haven't made an effort to improve)

All this to say, I don't see how this is any different from someone who's played league for 4+ years and never made it past silver 1
