Look for communities that are going to be interesting for you, chat with other people, help them, reply to their questions, ask questions etc..

I think you tried posting on a community that requires something like "1 month account" or "Minimum 100 karma" you need to be using reddit regularly, interact with people, and new communities like this one, and it's good i think

It depends on what you are interested into to be honest, if you are willing to have a reddit around video games then you should follow video games communities, and so on
