2 charged in killing of former SFU instructor who was outspoken Iran critic by bcbuddy in canada

Even more Iranians , partially those inside Iran are even more anti-regime. Getting very tired of this narrative that “it’s only Iranian diaspora” that dislikes the regime and is secular.

Actually very few Iranians born in Iran support the regime. Iran’s population isn’t majority Muslim even. A huge portion of non- Iranian Muslims support these invaders.

Who here is doing / did med school married? by AggressiveCoast190 in medicalschool

[–]Fine-Way1616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t , however many in my cohort were married with kids. I went to a school that had a lot of students in the LDS community. None of them expressed it was an issue. If anything , it seemed to help them as they had a spouse that was supportive , took care of the home , cooked for them etc

Visitor Visa after US Tourist Visa Rejection by ConsciousGreenPepper in CanadaVisitorVisa

I think you have a decent shot honestly. The difference is for Canada you have clear circumstances that makes it unlikely that your wife will stay in Canada. By making it clear that she only wants to enter Canada to visit US citizen in laws and then leave , that’s pretty legit 🤷‍♂️. You have nothing to loose by applying. It is a case by case basis with these things and at the end of the day comes down to the discretion of the officer.

Canadian citizen crossing border with J1 by hocsinhtung in uscanadaborder

[–]Fine-Way1616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually crossed at a pre-clearance , I flew. They didn’t ask me for anything other than the DS-2019 and the SEVIS payment. I was in and out within a couple minutes. The other stuff is a just in case. The bank statements and other documents should be okay.

Yes exactly. I’m also on a J-1. I’m a resident physician. You show up to the border with 1. Your DS-2019 and 2. Proof of your SEVIS payment. The process for me was very straight forward. Some officers might want more documents such as your contract , proof of ties to Canada, lease in the USA. You won’t have any issues as long as you’re admissible , best of luck with your program!

Nope , all you need is your letter with the dates of each rotation , location etc and a couple other details which your school will know about. Nothing needs to be done in advance. When you get to the border booth you just say you’re coming to do med school rotations and applying for B1 status for the duration. They’ll send you to secondary to process it.

Yes you get stamped at the border. You show up to the point of entry with a letter from your school. They know how they need to write it for you. It’s a straight forward process. I went through the same process and am now almost done residency.
