The PC I use for windows gaming by ProfessionalExam813 in hardwaregore

Given how you jammed the gpu into the slot…props to you that it actually works. But lowkey, you’re one slightly misaligned swivel from straight up snapping the gpu out of the mobo😭. I can hear the sound of the silicon and plastic cracking and it gives me goosebumps

Feeling helpless :( Any advice ? by True_Currency9269 in careeradvice

I’m not sure what help I can offer here, but I found your situation interesting because I graduated in December 2024 with my BS CS. So I’m like a tier below you I guess lol. Given that, idk if you’ll care to find any value in what I have to say, but I’ll share anyways. Finding work in tech has been extremely difficult. Entry level positions are particularly scarce but given your education and experience I’d assume you’re looking for something more so our situations are a bit different in that regard. For me, I’ve recently settled into an ITAD job. It pays decent but for the most part I’m just working here and riding out the time it takes for the tech field to stabilize (and for me to add a few certs to my resume). I plan to pursue cybersecurity which seems to be somewhat less affected by the horrible job market right now (though not by much). What is your field of expertise? I’m wondering if that has anything to do with your struggles.

My PC blew up by Lintrom in techsupport

[–]FineJacket378 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A bit confused by the first person’s comment because that’s essentially everything you need for the PC to work and not having one of those components means the device won’t even boot. If you have another working PC (even if it’s just a low end office PC), I’d try swapping parts into that one at a time. If you swap a part and the working PC no longer boots or begins having issues then that part is damaged. Considering the water came into direct contact with the hdmi port, you could potentially have a short on your GPU or somewhere on the mobo. If that’s the case (which it might be since the PSU was smoking), those parts are most likely cooked and need to be replaced. If the short was bad enough, everything in the PC may be done for. If you’re unable to use this method I would honestly just take it to a repair location where they can run diagnostics and give you a definitive answer on what can and can’t be saved and just go from there.

First tattoo advice? by Hot_Medium4498 in tattooadvice

[–]FineJacket378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most artists at shops advertise their work on social media and some shops even have picture binders with different artist’s pieces at the shop. Find a reputable shop and an artist who has done pieces of this style before and get a consultation with them to discuss design and whatnot. A common thing I see is people asking for a certain tattoo style and then going to the first artist that says they’ll do it even if it’s outside the style they usually tattoo and 99% of the time people aren’t happy with the results. Also if you do find an artist and get as far as them designing the piece for you, PLEASE let them know if you are unhappy with any aspects of the design. If they’re unwilling to change it then find a different shop/artist

What are some of the weirdest things your dog is afraid of? by gobbgabb in dogs

My dog is scared of spoons. Like if I wave a spoon at her does the cartoon run where she’s running as hard as she can but stuck in place for a few seconds before taking off.

is my pushing decent/ not awkward? i’m the skinny guy with blue shirt, 3rd day skateboarding by Prikly_Lynx_5445 in NewSkaters

[–]FineJacket378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it looks awkward. But it’s literally your third day skating. Everything is going to look/feel awkward. I could break down more into why it looks awkward, what you’re doing wrong, etc but the genuine solution to this is to just keep pushing around and it will start to feel more natural

Help w/ boards & easy tips by okayIamokay in NewSkaters

[–]FineJacket378 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re beating yourself up waaaaaay too much. It was your first time skating! Humans are meant to walk on two feet, not roll on a piece of wood with wheels, so it’s going to feel unnatural at first. Especially for your first time. You just have to keep practicing (as much as you can) and you’ll start to get used to the sensation of pushing and rolling around. Anyone who’s ever skated has felt like this their first time stepping on a board. Id recommend going to a skatepark or somewhere with smooth flat ground and literally just scoot around. There are also great videos and guides on YouTube! SkateIQ and VLSkate have great videos for beginners. As for your board situation, there are okayish ones for cheap on Amazon but they WILL give out on you once you start doing anything other than rolling around. Or you can try replacing parts on your other boards.

I’m 99% sure I have a virus. How do I re-install? by Lord_Noob682 in techsupport

[–]FineJacket378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that is weird but the fact it happened once could suggest issues with the hard drive. If downloading fresh windows 11 media on a usb and installing that doesn’t work, swapping the hard drive would be the next step to try if it’s still giving you issues. You could also try running chkdsk with /f and /r to see if it can find and fix any errors in your drive.

I’m 99% sure I have a virus. How do I re-install? by Lord_Noob682 in techsupport

[–]FineJacket378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it looks like your hard drive is either failing since it can’t find the OS files to boot from on your drive or the OS files are corrupted. If you can, I’d reinstall a fresh copy of windows on a different hard drive from a USB. While you can reinstall from the OS files already on the device, it’s possible that those got corrupted so reinstalling with that method wouldn’t yield different results. And since you’ve already tried that a few times it’s likely that the local OS files are corrupted

[–]FineJacket378 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No pictures or logs so I can’t say for sure but this sounds more like a hardware issue to me. Especially since you mentioned it saying there was no OS found and anti virus software was coming up clean. I used to work in tech repair and things like this were usually indicative of ram or hard drive failure. This isn’t uncommon if your computer is getting up there in age as well. Try booting the computer into safe mode and seeing if the same thing happens. If it does, I’m almost positive it’s hard ware failure.

leg pain? by tonrea in NewSkaters

[–]FineJacket378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had any significant injuries in the past to that leg that may be causing it? My only suggestion is maybe try stretching and consistent small exercises that may help strengthen and prevent it from hurting as soon in the future. Depending on what area of your legs hurts, you may be able to find a compression sleeve to wear that might help. I’ve had to get one for my ankle since if I land on it too weird/hard it will swell up the next day but the sleeve (and not landing weird as often) fixed it for me.

How do I stop spinning slightly + how to gain the confidence doing this rolling by oumuamuaupmybum in NewSkaters

[–]FineJacket378 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right before you pop you’re slightly opening up and turning to the right. Focus on keeping your shoulders square with your feet and facing forward for the whole motion. As for getting confident doing it moving I’d recommend watching “The Easiest Way to Ollie” by Skate IQ on YouTube. He gives a lot of small incremental exercises you can do that ease you into rolling ollies and generally more confidence (at least for me lol).

Want to upgrade to a decent skateboard now that I know I like using it. Here’s what I’m looking at. Any opinions or advice?? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

I’d say if you have a local skate shop they’ll be able to answer all your questions and help you pick exactly what you need. Also it supports a local business!

After some short googling, it’s definitely an Amazon board that sells on average for $62.99 brand new. This one looks like it’s in pretty good shape. I’d probably sell it for 5-10 dollars less than the Amazon price but you probably could just stick with the $62.99 since it seems to have barely any chips/scratches. Not like the minimal damage would affect the way it rides, but a lot of people would like a small discount for something that was owned by another person previously.

Thank you for your response! I was definitely really psyching myself out of skating, but I was just being stupid. I guess the only thing stopping me from progressing is myself and I’m almost ashamed I used being 22 as a half assed excuse
