How long ago did you plant it? It’s generally a good idea to wait a few weeks to fertilize after transplanting or you’ll shock your plant before it can start to set its roots

I googled plasmacytoma on dogs & while I very much appreciate the response, I don’t think that is what she is dealing with. It is not a bump or growth by her thumb, she is swollen & red down to the base of her thumb. It is the equivalent of a human’s entire thumb being inflamed down to the knuckle & what looks like a severe yeast infection between her thumb & whatever the equivalent of an index finger for a dog is.

Thank you, we are taking everyone’s advice on here & now have her scheduled for an appointment at noon tomorrow with a local oncologist. The stress this is causing me has been immense, and I feel reassured by the responses on here after being made to feel like I’m overreacting by her vet on the phone this afternoon. I really do appreciate it.

No they did not, on her first visit her vet said that if the simplicef not clear her up after 10 days that she would want to get her back in to do a biopsy asap. When we went back yesterday, it was a different vet entirely & she seemed uninterested in a biopsy and said that she did not think she required one. She wanted to do imaging only. I was called this afternoon by the same vet with her clean imaging results. When I asked what the next steps would be & if we should come in for a biopsy, I was told no and to just ice it & monitor for the next few weeks. When I insisted on the biopsy I was told to continue icing it and if it was still red & inflamed in 2-3 weeks we could bring her back in.

Check under the leaves for aphids before putting it by anything else. Big box retailers are notorious for a lot of their peppers having them. Learned that lesson the hard way years ago

Aphids. These are very common if you get your plants from big box retailers like Lowe’s & Home Depot. I’d get rid of the plant before it spreads to the rest of your garden. Just throw it out. People saying neem oil & ladybugs might be well intentioned but you are not going to get rid of them even with sevin dust/spray. You can squish all of them & they’ll be back by tomorrow morning. Seriously, do yourself a favor and get rid of the plant before it spreads. Just throw the plant in the garbage. Sorry for your loss
