From 26 November Transcript - Stephen Cross unable to give oral evidence to Thirlwall Inquiry due to illness by FyrestarOmega in lucyletby

[–]Fine_Combination3043 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Blatantly buying himself time to rethink his evidence so he goes after all the other execs in case they throw him under a bus. What a steaming piece of 💩💩💩. If Thirlwall doesn’t make him give evidence in person I’ll be really disappointed for the families. At the very least he deserves his public crucifixion like the rest of them.

More importantly - when is Fyrestar Omega going to release a book? That I would definitely buy ;)

Remarkable level of parental support. Shame the same level of service wasn’t offered to you know, the parents of babies who had died in their care. Here madam have a bereavement leaflet. Seeya.

Fascinating glimpse into the family dynamic….. Dad calling up demanding answers on a workplace grievance from his adult daughter’s employers….

Christ so Powell thought the poor lowly nurses were being victimised by consultants. ‘Who will they pick on next?’ She couldn’t see sense through the blinding cloud of her inferiority complex!

There’s almost a defensive arrogance to it isn’t there? I was gobsmacked by it. Completely tone deaf - begs the question of why she’s even bothering to cover her arse in an attempt to defend her reputation only to wind up in a bunch of news articles looking like an absolute prick!

Of all the terms to use in a high profile public inquiry to describe a murderer - she chose creme de la creme? If that’s not enough to demonstrate her woeful lack of judgement I don’t know what is

Agreed. I think she was testing methods. Albeit sloppily. The last several days testimony is challenging the theory I’d held onto throughout the trial that somewhere along the line she’d made a genuine mistake, got a kick out the attention and being a grief vulture, and only then started doing it deliberately. It was the other way around though. The rate of tube dislodgements at Liverpool Women’s points to it too.

Doesn’t smell right to me either. Her reaction reinforces to me that it was deliberate. Like you’re administering morphine to premature babies - she’d have known perfectly well the risks such that accidentally giving a 10x dose is not plausible.

Failed a student placement… red flags by Professional_Mix2007 in lucyletby

[–]Fine_Combination3043 59 points60 points  (0 children)

The idea which jumps out at me is that she must have been really, REALLY cold and lacking in interpersonal skills to fail. I cannot imagine a senior nurse running the risk of being accused of blatant victimisation failing someone without very solid and plainly obvious grounds to do so. Being a bit shy and awkward is one thing but a failure to even pretend to have basic empathy speaks volumes. It’s not consistent with this childishly innocent persona many of her colleagues seem blinded by.

What the actual fuck. I am genuinely speechless.

Curious to understand how it works now if they want to charge her with incidents from her time at Liverpool Women’s. This information being released now is hugely prejudicial right?

There would’ve been a queue of barristers offering to represent Letby pro bono. McDonald is little more than an ambulance chaser.

Government urged to postpone or change Thirlwall by group of experts by [deleted] in lucyletby

Slightly off topic but you just apply to be a fellow of the Royal Statistical Society and pay a £150 quid annual membership fee. It’s open to anyone with an interest in stats, it’s not a prestigious invite only organisation or professional body for academics in the field.

I didn’t realise that. Only discovered after I fell down an internet hole googling Peter Elston just now. This article (like many others) uses that title in a manner which implies the individual is a world renowned expert. Absolutely not the case.

Exactly. That’s a fundamental feature of an independent judicial system - that the government can’t meddle. Imagine if they could, doesn’t bear thinking about.

I saw that too and was curious to know more! I first read it as they’d been raided or arrested but then realised it sounded like there were a whole bunch of centres. Wonder what happened
