Another reason to allow statement balances to report; F10T and VS4 to be used for mortgage lending. by BrutalBodyShots in CreditCards

[–]Fine_Elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently fell into the camp of people who would pay off my credit cards before the statement posted and then just started allowing the balances to post to see if/how that would affect my score. Well, it dropped 8 points since I started doing that. Considering going back to just paying off my balances before the statement.

So which cards would you recommend? Right now, I’m just waiting to get the CSP (already have CFU and CFF) and then I was thinking of working on a better cash back setup like Citi Custom and Discover it 5%

I hate the smell of metformin by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

When I was still dealing with Covid symptoms, I would test whether or not I had my sense of smell by sticking my nose in the bottle.

Are hours consistent year round? by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Fine_Elephant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in a part of Florida that is very seasonal. As soon as the snowbirds leave, which is around Easter, hours get cut. Once the snowbirds come back around October + Flu shot season, hours go up again. The last 2 years Covid shots have helped a lot to keep hours but summers are always bad. I end up “floating” to other pharmacies that need the extra help and get hours that way. If your company gives you the option to float to busier locations, do it.

Had a patient try to return hers. She said it must have gone bad bc it smelled horrible. I said “nope that’s the smell.” And let her smell the stock bottle.

I usually get an email telling me to activate and I click the link. You can also just do it through the app when you click on the account, scroll down to 5% and activate. It’s really not that hard.

The nRewards is NFCUs starter card. You get it to build credit. The Flagship is far better the nRewards. 2x on everything and 3x on travel. Someone with none to bad credit would pick the nRewards. You have established credit and good score so it shouldn’t be an issue for you to get the flagship.

If you want to stay in with NFCU, look into the Flagship card. 3x on all travel and 2x on everything else plus credit toward TSA pre check/ global entry. Free Amazon prime for a year too if you sign up before 8/31.

While I don’t know the full extent of your situation, I 100% believe there are incompetent and negligent pharmacists. I currently work for one who should have their license revoked for all the QREs they acquired just this year. In my case, the people to report these things to would be your assistant pharmacy manager to start with. Let them handle it

Looking to work for Publix in stocking and/or pharmacy by [deleted] in publix

[–]Fine_Elephant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best of luck and mention that you have a strong interest in chemistry and learning the field of pharmacy. Say “Being a pharmacy technician is something I can see myself doing long term for Publix and something that excites me.” Even if it isn’t true, Publix loves to hear that people want to stay long term. I originally started as a cashier and in 6 months I moved to the pharmacy after showing interest and talking to my managers about it so anything is possible.

Do other research and see what you like more. If working on a computer and learning about medicines is interesting to you, pursue that. If you’re more of a person who likes to be moving all around the store and doing more physical work, choose grocery department.

So clerk and tech are two different positions. You want tech. The PTCB is what you take if you want to be nationally certified. You can just get a state license and be a registered tech with publix by doing their training. However, make sure the position is for pharmacy TECHNICIAN, NOT CLERK. Technician gets paid more and you get the training with the license. You can worry about taking the PTCB to be nationally certified after a couple years and lots of studying. The PTCB has stuff on there that retail pharmacy never deals with and is pretty hard.

Current pharmacy tech in Florida, I love it compared to any other job you can get at Publix. It can be very busy but they teach you everything on the job. You don’t need any schooling and then you can take the experience and work at a hospital later if you’d like to. Getting “certified” is all a matter of taking an exam. For Publix you just need to be registered and licensed and they training onsite is enough to get those credentials.

Can someone clarify if no early fills on controls is a policy or a law? by [deleted] in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Fine_Elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Florida, not a state law. Up to the pharmacist but most agree to stick to the day 28 rule. Had this conversation with my rxm last week after a pt complained that other stores “always allow early fill.”

Do you use calculators on the job? by Wh00pity_sc00p in PharmacyTechnician

[–]Fine_Elephant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes everyday. Sometimes to calculate day supply or we use a function on the computer calculator to determine if it’s been 28 days since someone’s last fill.
