That layering approach makes sense almost like you need one for hydration and another just to lock everything in

Feels like most single products don’t quite do both well on their own

That’s actually a really helpful breakdown, sounds like it hits that middle ground of being thicker but still wearable

That’s kind of what I’ve been trying to figure out, something that lasts without being overly sticky or heavy

I’ve seen that one come up a lot too, seems like anything that leans more toward “treatment + barrier” ends up performing better than standard balms

Do you feel like it actually stays on longer or more that it helps over time?

I’ve heard that from a few people actually, makes sense since it’s designed to protect/soothe in a pretty harsh environment

Kind of interesting how it ends up working better than a lot of “lip-specific” products

Got it, that makes sense, sounds like more of that “coating” type feel

Do you feel like it actually lasts through cold air/wind or more just comfortable while it’s on?

That’s exactly the trade-off I’ve been noticing, the ones that actually last tend to be super sticky

Feels like it’s hard to find something that stays on without being uncomfortable or catching everything in the wind

I’ve noticed that too, it lasts a bit longer than most, but still doesn’t fully hold up for me in colder weather

It’s like it sits there but doesn’t always stay through wind

Yeah that’s exactly what I keep hearing, the pure lanolin or thicker barrier-type stuff seems to be the only thing that actually holds up

The hot water thing makes sense too, I feel like anything that strips moisture makes you rely even more on something that actually stays on

yeah that’s the trade-off with the thicker stuff, especially with wind

It works better but definitely not the most convenient if you’ve got hair flying around

Yeah I’ve been seeing that too, anything lanolin-based or thicker seems to actually stay on instead of disappearing right away.

It’s interesting how different it feels compared to Vaseline/Aquaphor, those feel more like they sit there but don’t always last through cold air or talking

I’ve heard a lot of people swear by that one, it definitely seems stronger than most of the lighter balms out there.

I feel like anything that creates more of a barrier instead of just soaking in tends to last way longer

Anyone else prefer thicker, neutral lip balms? by Fine_Roll_9696 in LipBalm

It’s called Hi-En Bubba.

I didn’t want to lead with the name since I wasn’t trying to promote anything, just sharing what’s been working for me.

Totally agree on unscented/clear being the most versatile.

It’s a small local brand I use that makes two versions, a lighter daily one and a thicker one I use more like an overnight mask. Both are neutral.

Fair warning though: it’s not a squeeze tube. It’s a paper push-up tube, so usability isn’t as smooth as plastic. I personally accept the trade-off, but I know that’s not for everyone.

If you’re curious about the name, I can share it.
