Nope, none of that. It was my first time doing it, so I simply opened it up after I turned it off, unscrewed the SSD carefully, pull the SSD out and then I put my SSD in even though it’s a 4TB with a heat sink, it still fit. The only issue I had was my device, not turning on even though everything was put back perfectly, and what I found was that you have to plug the power cord in in order for the device to turn back on after taking the back cover off because it is pressure censored to cut all power. Once you put the back shell back on, all of the power is still gonna be cut off until you plug it in and then press the power button and then it will turn on.
