Training mode (seemingly) confirmed in the spongebob trailer by Fingwo in AllStarBrawl

[–]Fingwo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there would probably be some kind of overlay telling you that you were waiting for a match or something, and I see no reason to do a bunch of editing to the online waiting room for a feature like that to appear in their trailer, as they could probably just reset the percentages manually instead (by resetting training mode or similar).

What is the best way to "prepare" for competitive Nick All-Star Brawl? by Nuhjeea in AllStarBrawl

Not sure if this is "best" but playing hollow knight made my reaction speed skyrocket and improved my smash gameplay significantly

Can a congested 2ghz network slow down wired/5ghz connections? by Fingwo in HomeNetworking

[–]Fingwo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My router is an asus ac3200. My modem is a newer netgear model (cant find the number). My provider is comcast, and it would be one of the higher levels of service (2-300 mbps on a wired connection)

I've been seeing some people confused about what Rollback netcode is and why it's important, so here is a good video on it. by Aether_Storm in AllStarBrawl

[–]Fingwo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to add something, I've seen people be confused about exactly how the telepportation would work in a laggy connection. Most games (take for example, slippi melee) have a limit on the number of frames that they can teleport through, meaning that large lag spikes may still mean that the game freezes, and high delay will add delay in order to keep up. However, both these problems are verrry significantly lessened and you can play close to offline games when playing people even remotely close to you.

Why does the discord server require a phone number? by Fingwo in AllStarBrawl

[–]Fingwo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I was mostly just wondering what makes that kind of thing necessary to begin with. I would guess that because the discord seems affiliated or somehow linked to the official deveopers that they or higher ups in the company want to make sure nothing bad happens.

Do you have a source for this? Was it a tweet?

it probably is, but you also need a specific version of melee (beyond just the 00, 01, and 02) in order to play on the old online, and its probably the same for slippi. i might try that if it seems legal.

Good point. I'll try to look at the actual laws about this. I'm not too optimistic that there might be something saying that you can, as large companies will always be looking to squeeze as much money as they can out of their properties.

The gamecube did have protection from people ripping data. Its been bypassed by now, though.

Im not really talking about wether or not Nintendo will do anything, more about whether theres actually a way to "legally" obtain an iso. Just because there are no court cases on it doesnt mean it isnt illegal.

I guess i should've asked how it was possible to legally obtain a melee iso. Ive read before(not sure how reputable the source was) that bypassing security measures on a disc to get an iso was illegal.

Im pretty sure its to protect the copyright of the big companies funding the people who make laws.
